“It is really only a matter of time you become part of a long line of great American musicians” -- Antonia, Artist

“I love your music. Tonight in Minnesota, the sky is dark but there is a huge moon shining down on the ground. It feels like navigating shadows by the moonlight. That’s what it feels like to me, listening to your music.” -- Andy, Minnesota

-- "Diving Bell Shallows has hooks to hang your ears on. The first full-length recording from local band The Milling Gowns reels you in - between the introspective lyrics and the lush arrangements there's food for anyone at this buffet. Images abound, from the biblical Lazarus to a sequence that sounds like the ubiquitous meditation tape. Standout tracks for this reviewer include "Dust for Kissers", "Violet Wrist", "Cape the Pearls", and "Macaw". Play this when you're looking for the next band to hit it big from Boston."

--- Joann Keesey, WMFO Medford MA

"Sad Songs Say So Much"

-- "God, we love deep male voices sad music. Tindersticks, Willard Grant Conspiracy, Leonard Cohen, the Magnetic Fields, Nick Cave. Playing in this league is M who sings and writes for the band the Milling Gowns. There's no guitarist in the quartet; pianist Sharon Crumrine is the main instrumentalist. The songs on their debut EP are mostly slow, stately and sad. Gorgeous too. It's not the kind of music people tend to go out to see for a classic "good time." But the rewards are there and sometimes deeper."

I have never in my life seen such charming music so far under the pop radar, Your voice is like Bavarian dark chocolate with a Perrier chaser and in answer to your question: what's happning? some Anti-Fa Bitches are tryin' to get punked out by tryin' to front when theyR just chickenshit conformists looking to get their names into local history books by breaking the law. They will go down in history as working outside of the law & will be a part of history as they wish, but not a part of it's future

Dearest M & the Milling Gowns,

I just wanted to leave a message of gratitude for you all. Thankyou M (& Calyb if he's reading!) for 'housing' us, and being so hospitable and kind (pancakes were pretty amazing too!). We all loved your music so much (ridiculously so: Joe and Sarah couldn't stop talking about you guys in the van!) and it was a great honour to share the stage with you M, someone with such great vision, and the Milling Gowns, a fucking great sounding live band.

Rays of love shot from my heart to yours,

Adam
