According to the Ohio Historical Society website:
"The Lincoln Theatre is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion A for its association with the cultural history of the African-American community in Columbus. The building was developed by an African-American fraternal organization; constructed by an African-American construction company; managed by an important local African-American entrepreneur; and was a center for stage and screen entertainment for Columbus' African-American population for decades. It is one of the best remaining vestiges of early 20th century African-American history in the city".

Hollywood star shines for Miracles
From wire service report
The rhythm and blues group The Miracles, Motown Records' first successful group act, will receive the 2,381st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today at about 11:30, in connection with the record label's 50th anniversary.
Motown founder Berry Gordy and Stevie Wonder will speak at the late- morning ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard, near the stars of such other Motown greats as Wonder, The Supremes and The Temptations.
The star honors The Miracles' original lineup -- Smokey Robinson, and his former wife, Claudette Robinson, known as "the First Lady of Motown," Pete Moore, Bobby Rogers and the late Ronnie White.
The star is the latest in a long series of honors for the group, which was 32nd of Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest artists of all time, 61st on VH-1's list and 71st on Billboard's.
The Miracles are also four-time inductees into the Grammy Hall of Fame, which honors recordings that are at least 25 years old and have a "qualitative or historical significance." Their honored songs are "You've Really Got a Hold on Me," "The Tracks Of My Tears" "The Tears of a Clown" and "Shop Around."
"The Tracks Of My Tears" and "Shop Around" are both part of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll and Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The Miracles have a third song on both lists -- "Going to a Go-Go" on The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll and "Ooo
Baby Baby" on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Say the word "Miracles" and all kinds of images from the golden era of the Motown Record Corporation comes to mind. The Miracles were the first Motown group to break through bringing Berry Gordy's fledgling Detroit record company its first gold record for selling a million copies. The song was "Shop Around" and the year was 1960. The group turned out an amazing number of hits from that time to 1972 when lead singer Smokey Robinson opted for a solo career.
Following Robinson's departure, The Miracles - Bobby Rogers, Pete Moore and Ronnie White (by this time the fifth member, Claudette Robinson, had retired from the business) recruited a new lead singer, Billy Griffin, and delivered several more hits, most notably, "Love Machine", "Do It Baby" and "Don't Cha Love It". By 1978, this group had disbanded and following a period of inactivity, Rogers and White decided to reform the group. Sadly, Ron White passed away following a long illness.
Bobby's strong desire to keep The Miracles name in the spotlight created the newly emerged group. As one of the cornerstones of Motown music and the co-writer of some of the most memorable Motown songs including "Going To a Go-Go" (Miracles), "The Way You Do The Things You Do" (Temptations), "First I Look At The Purse" (Contours), Bobby will go down in musical history for his infamous voice in the opening of mega hit "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye and his growl in "Love Machine".
Dave Finley, long time friend of Bobby Rogers, with his smooth second tenor comes from the R&B vocal group, The Del Vikings of "Come Go With Me" fame. Dave continues to write and produce young artists keeping "the music alive".
The Miracles performed as a trio with their band, "The Miracle Workers", with Tee Turner as musical director/bass player and background vocalist. An accomplished writer, producer and vocalist, Tee's satin, airy vocal qualities with the ability to sing first and second tenor moved Tee to the front line.
It is noteworthy that The Miracles have maintained their professionalism and cannot be duplicated in a time when clone groups are unfortunately on the rise.
The Miracles sweet sounds are loved throughout the world and with the positive energy of these four gentlemen, MIRACLES WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN

With the legendary label’s smooth and soulful tunes, stress is not an emotion associated with Motown, but a four week agony of choice has ended with the release of its fans’ favourite fifty greatest tracks.
To celebrate January’s 50th Anniversary of Motown Records, arguably the greatest record label ever, Universal Music is releasing Motown 50, a compilation of tracks chosen by fans worldwide. The fans were polled during four weeks in October using social networking internet sites.

The Miracles Facts
THE MIRACLES' "COVER VERSIONS" section in Wikipedia. The section now consists of OVER 40 SONGS obtained from ALL MUSIC GUIDE, an excellent reference source. New sites for 3 new Miracles songs: "I Like It Like That", "I Gotta Dance To Keep From Crying", and "I've Been Good To You"....and their final album with Smokey, "Flying High Together".
Here are the articles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Gotta_Dance_to_Keep_From_Crying http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Like_It_Like_That_(Miracles_song) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27ve_Been_Good_To_You http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_High_Together
The Miracles song," The Tracks Of My Tears " , has some pretty prestigous honors. This song has been honored by The RECORD INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (RIAA) as 127 of the "Songs Of The Century"- The 365 Greatest Songs of The 20th Century". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songs_of_the_Century It was also chosen as one of the "Top 10 Best Songs Of All Time" by a panel of 20 top industry songwriters and producers including Hal David, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Jerry Leiber and others as reported to Britain's Mojo music magazine. Cable TV network VH-1 chose The Miracles as No. 61 in their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time .
The Beatles song "Ask Me Why" was deeply influenced by The Miracles hit, "What's So Good About Goodbye" : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ask_Me_Why . Ask Me Why, written by Lennon ,was influenced by The Miracles' hit "What's So Good About Goodbye" . George Harrison also greatly admired Robinson and paid tribute to him in his 1976 song 'Pure Smokey', while The Rolling Stones covered their hit "Going to a Go-Go". The Hollies covered the group's 1963 smash "Mickey's Monkey". The Zombies also covered "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" , while The Who covered The Miracles' hit, "I Gotta Dance to Keep From Crying" . While the British Invasion meant the end of many American artists' recording careers, it had very little effect on The Miracles who continued having hits throughout this period. In addition, artists of many diverse musical genres have covered their songs , including Jazz, Country & Western, MOR, Reggae, Hip-Hop, Rock and Pop, as well as R&B/Soul. "A "Hall Of Fame" worthy group." Take a look at The Miracles' article in AMAZON and in their article in the "FUTURE ROCK HALL" website.
