Sheffield's epic titans The Mirimar Disaster make a welcome return to action with their incredible new mini album 'Volumes', set for release on September 01.
Following on from their critically acclaimed self-titled debut, 'Volumes' is the band's statement of intent for the year 2008 and beyond.
Produced by Jason Sanderson (The Plight, Rolo Tomassi, The Legacy), 'Volumes' is a pile-driving riff-hungry monster, dirt-ball metal beast.
Captured for the first time in the confines of a studio, 'Volumes' truly reflects the band's already lethal live performances that have enthralled audiences across the board.
Since 2007 the band have toured the UK and played shows across the country with the likes of Genghis Tron, 65daysofstatic, Will Haven, Arch Enemy, Mastodon, The Ghost Of A Thousand, Devil Sold His Soul and Textures to name but a few.
It's been an interesting ride for the quartet, who saw the exit of original singer Ian Stocky Stockdale only months after the release of their debut album. Although it was a curious departure, the band cited it as the only way The Mirimar Disaster could continue to evolve and grow. Now with guitarist Frank Forman stepping into the forefront, backed as always by drummer Iain 'Slomo' Scott, the reinvented quartet are clearly stronger and more confident than ever. And now having convinced audiences in a live setting, this line-up is clearly the right line-up: 'Volumes' is testament a band whose hunger, creative focus and determination is second to none.
From the off, with 'Alms For Strangers', 'Volumes' is a barbed-wired cluster fuck of pounding drums and twisted riffs, which continues into the colossal 'Control. Alter Delete'. 'Volumes' also features a vocal guest appearance from Maria Christopher (of Massachusetts' 27 – Undergroove / Relapse Records) in 'The Town Of Empty Sound' – showing a bleak and experimental nature of the band. The title track is a vitriolic groove-fest, while closer 'Sing Hera' brings 'Volumes' to a logical conclusion that leaves you wondering what's just hit your ears!
With artwork released by the Drunken Marksman (AKA Jimbob Taint – Rise Above Records), 'Volumes' is arguably one of the most exciting and refreshing metal adventures to raise its ugly head from the UK's underground. This new journey has only just begun……

”Accapellian, Surf, Mariachi, Psych Post-Rock anyone? This is a special mish mash of styles that somehow more than holds itself together to produce an often quite brilliant album. Very good indeed...” Jumbo Records
"Liking this CD album by Gyppos. It seems to be the work of four chaps from the Sheffield region and is comprised of lo-fi indie pop, skewed bluegrass, quirky skiffle & schizoid folk-rock. There's a small bit of them that initially reminds me of old Chicago band 5ive Style but also (musically) Half Man Half Biscuit, fellow Steel City-ers Champion Kickboxer & Bristol's enigmatic Safetyword. Lots of curious guitar dueling, loose pattering drums & eccentric freestyling. It's all really intimate & damn entertaining but most importantly there's a gorgeous homely soul about them being apparent from the intermittent warm parping brass & down at heel vocals. They sound like a chilled bunch who'd I'd most certainly make the effort to catch live. Possibly fans of the likes of early Beta Band, Hood & I, Ludicrous could all find something to fall in love with on this album......'Bold Ambler' is CD only thru Flaming Oh." Norman Records
