Influences
Ummm more like here's a list of bands that have ripped us off and made kajillions:
Buffalo Tom - they went to UMass and so did two of us. Coincidence?? I think not.
Replacements - well duh. You couldn't sneeze in Boston without hitting a Stimson or Westerberg for a while.
Beatles- Revolver was totally a rip off of some early modS demo tapes.
Jay Farrar - Come on Jay...just cause we got to hang out and play music w Pops doesn't mean you can rip us off. Weak.
Tweedy - who doesn't he rip off??
Home of the modifierS on my space....All the cool kids seem to be doing it. Rumors of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. We are a three piece indie-rock/tubescreaming pop band from Boston formed in the late 90’s. "Punk rock you can hum along with and pop that shakes you by the lapels," is how people have described our sound.....among other things.... We've played across the country, put out 2 CDs on Intelligent Records, had a song in the movie Massholes, had songs on MTV's Undressed, and currently appear in the indie movie Suicide City. We also appear on the American Laundromat Records' Compilation, High School Reunion available NOW. We recorded our version of Love My Way, by The Psychedelic Furs for the comp that also includes Matthew Sweet, Frank Black, Kristin Hersch, Lori McKenna and the Dresden Dolls. Go to http://www.americanlaundromatrecords.com/indexmain.php for more info.
We recorded our version of Divine Hammer for another ALR release called Gigantic - A Tribute to Kim Deal. You can get the details here: http://www.myspace.com/kimdealtribute.
And check this out. A couple of years ago we were in an indie movie called Suicide City. You can see us here in the trailer:
Wood Spider would like to cordially invite you to 115 Franklin St, a neighborhood punk house in Allston, MA. We are lucky enough to be sharing the stage (basement floor) with O Pioneers!!!, FORT! the Band, Interrobang?! and the Brave Little Abacus! Get there at 7 to see us play!
Admission is free, but bring some a few bills anyway, to help out the touring bands (OP!!! has made their trek all the way from Texas!)
You have our eternal thanks,
-WS
Where u been Falcon? I heard u on the radio the other night... I went to Cocoa last week and saw Norman's, looked for our dollar in that Guinness bar (couldnt find it tho...) and took another nap in our park... MISS YOU!!!
Thank you so much for "bandfriending" us, guys! We truly appreciate it.
We hope that you find something of ours that will wriggle into your ears, burrow down to your heart (in a good way), and compel you to ROB US BLIND (again, in a good way: "Free downloads, away!").
If you dig us, tell a friend. If you don't, hell, tell an enemy.
