P's massive soca jam, Nookie, has a gigantic rogering riddim designed to get the increasingly degenerate UK throbbing to its chorus of "Ah looking some nookie tonight, wussy wussy." Shakespeare, roll over.
The name Jamesy P is a relatively new one in the soca industry, and one which has been rapidly gaining recognition thanks to the now infamous hook line: I looking at nookie tonight juicy, juicy. Nookie Tonight can be heard throughout the Caribbean and Caribbean communities in Europe, USA and Canada, on street corners and blaring out of homes, cars, taxis - almost everywhere that Caribbean people congregate.
Jamesy P was born James Morgan in St Vincent on May 18, 1970. In 1991 he emigrated to the British Virgin Islands, where whilst working as a barber he met Daddy Juicy and Pinchy P, the two people he credits for starting him in this singing ting. Though he began in 1993, it wasnt until he sang See Meh Trial that he started to gain recognition. (The song highlighted the problems he faced at home because his girlfriend spent so much time watching soap operas.)
In 2002 Jamesy P's dancehall stlye made a buzz on the Virgin Islands radio scene climaxing to the top morning show at that time FTW Tap Out Radio hosted by the very popular & always entertaining DJ FRANCHISE on Z-ROD 103.7FM. Ridding Various dancehall riddims and producing remixes of the hottest dancehall and R&B songs with the production aid of dj's like Commodore. Jamesy P started to become a house hold name. Jamesy became so popular he landed a job as a disc jocky on another local station where he continued to blaze fire along other popular dj's such as Casual and Wiz. Playing music was Awesome but making it was his passion so Jamesy left the radio after a short stint to making music full time
In Jamaica he worked on his first album, Up Ah Notch, which featured Stevie Face on a track called Give Thanks which gained regional exposure. He also worked with Shane Brown, Rohan Dwyer, Desi Jones and Paul Crossdale, who all contributed to Junior Kellys Love So Nice album. Jamesy P joined the soca fraternity with a track called Dancehall Police, however his big break did not take place until he linked up with his childhood friend Luta on Nookie Tonight.
The hit tune, which was composed by Jamesy P and Luta, has been remixed several times: the most popular is probably the Elephant Man remix. Both Jamesy P and Luta are managed by Mark Cyrus, who also produced Nookie Tonight. Jamesy P's album, The Kitchen Helper, contains not only his hit tune Nookie Tonight but also Bedroom Business, Dancehall Police, Keep It Straight and the title track.
Now known as the Nookie Man, Jamesy P is a must in parties throughout the Soca world including Trinidad, London, New York and Miami. Recently he signed recording deals with two major International music labels. In North America and Canada he will be represented by Next Plateau, a division of Universal Records, while in Europe and the United Kingdom he will be represented by the Ministry of Sound/EMI. Hot off the heels of a sucessfull debut of his 2007 album Work of Art, Jamesy shows no sign of slowing down. With hits as the title track Work of Art, Do Me Baby featuring Cecile, The gyals dem anthem Diabetic and Number 1 club Banger Bashment Freaks. Work of Art has enough tunes to keep you grooving from now to next Carnival.
