A seven-piece, orchestral outfit; The O’Darling is redefining the new Canadian sound and quickly becoming one of the country’s most promising bands. Their exceptional musicianship, thoughtful song-writing, achingly beautiful vocals and sophisticated harmonies make The O'Darling nothing short of celestial. With contrasting but perfectly blended personalities, the band creates “gorgeous orchestral slowcore pop...” (snobsmusic.net) that “...thrives on subtlety.” (wakingupto.wordpress.com).
From accross Canada; Jennah Barry, Ida Maidstone, Chantel Emond, Olivier Cléments, David Barry, Galen Pelley and Colin Nealis first met in Toronto and formed The O’Darling in 2008. An overwhelming response from the city’s indie scene prompted the band to record and release a debut EP; the succesful and properly titled; “A Nice EP”. Fans, internet critics and music bloggers alike named the group as something to look out for. Their eagerly anticipated full length album entitled “The O’Darling” was released in the summer of 2009. This stunning collection of songs caught the attention of Maurice (Warner Bros. Records), Hey Ocean, Dan Mangan (File Under: Music), Aidan Knight and Said the Whale with whom they’ve shared stages with during their Canadian summer tour in 2009. With air time on CBC Radio, two successful cross Canadian tours and loads of fans from coast to coast, The O’Darling is most certainly on the rise and is undoubtedly becoming a powerful player in the future of Canadian music.

Hey Ida: I ran into Dave Flello a few days ago at L&M and gave him a copy of the new O'darlin CD. He was very appreciative . I also stopped up to see Jeremy Baker at the Zone 91.3 and gave him a copy. David Lennam one of my favourite Victoria writers now has a copy. Next on my list of shameless promotion is Mike Devlin. Hope school is going well. Don
