Bio
Theodosia Tsatsou was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. Having studied music and dancing, she has participated in small groups and theatrical teams which dealt with school representations and extracts of known musicals. After finishing high school, she returned to Greece, making Thessaloniki her permanent residence, where she finished her studies in the Theatre of Northern Greece. Moreover, she completed her musical studies and later on, she graduated from the Aristotelio University of Thessaloniki in English literature. In Thessaloniki, she met up with George Papapostolou, founding member of group "Ble", and this acquaintance led to the collaboration of the two. "Ble" circulated, in 1996, the album "Enoches", in which Theodosia undertook the vocals. The disk has been particularly successful, with tracks such as "Niotho enoxes" (a.k.a. I feel guilty) , "Fovamai" (a.k.a. I am afraid) and "Esi den zeis pouthena" (a.k.a. You live nowhere) which were often played in the radio and they became quiet popular with the Greek public. The group presented material with pop/rock and blues/funk elements, which was the style of Theodosia's vocals and her interpretation of the songs. However, Theodosia decided to quit the band the next year and began her solo effort in 1999 with the disk "Ipoptos Kosmos" (a.k.a. Suspicious world), which was the first disk in which Theodosia participated musically and also lyrically. It is a musical unity which celebrates the circle of life, entering the depth of thought and rising to the peak of the feeling. With the circulation of "Ipoptos Kosmos", Theodosia performed at the music scene "Metro", while she was touring across Greece. It was the summer of the same year when she participated in the concert of "The Parliament of the Teenagers" in Kallimarmaro, Athens. During the next two years, she participated in the album of the band "Pyx Lax", "Ta dokaria sto grasidi perimenoun ta paidia" (a.k.a. The wooden sticks in the grass are waiting for the children), interpreting along with them the songs "Mono gia ekini mi mou les" (a.k.a. Do not tell me about her) and "Sto ema mou alazei o keros" (a.k.a. In my Blood, the weather changes). She toured with the band for a while promoting the songs successfully. She participated with the band "Mode Plagal", " III" ,singing with them "Ta pedia tis gitonias sou"(a.k.a. The children of your neighborhood). Moreover, she participated with another rock band "Maskes" performing the song "Agaan Graan" in the album "Gefires stis taratses"(a.k.a. Bridges in flat roofs). Along with all that, she was preparing the material of her next album in which she chose to work with Giannis Nastas (Xaxakes) in the orchestration and the production of the album in which she sang songs written by her, moreover by Kleon Antoniou (Mode Plagal) and Giorgos Michas. The album was called "Kokkino" (a.k.a. Red) and was released during the spring of 2002. This album holds a variety of songs, that move through ballads such as "Pou na 'se tora" (a.k.a. Where are you now), "Thalasa" (a.k.a. The sea) to strong rhythms and beat in "Kokkino" and "Let the music". The winter of 2006, her new album, "Sti leoforo tis Evas" (a.k.a. In Eve's highway) brought about a new sound and Theodosia experimented once again with music and lyrics with the assistance in composition and orchestration of Paul Stefanidis. The sound, that she's experimenting with, holds songs such as "Oriona","Sti leoforo tis Evas" (a.k.a. In Eve's highway) and "Kato apo ti zoni" (a.k.a. Under the belt) where Theodosia raps. "Pios ise esi pou me kitas" (a.k.a. Who are you that looking at me) is the song that made the album well-known with the lyrics of Giota Davlara. The experimenting and the innovating approach are obvious in all of the ten compositions. The concept of a united idea, that is to say the internal, feminine search of self-knowledge and sentimental justice, is extremely apparent in the ballad "Thelo na se do" (a.k.a. I want to see you) , "Ela" (a.k.a Come on) and "Take me with you". From February 2007 and for few performances, Theodosia made live appearances in the music scene "Metro", along with Manos Pirovolakis, and attempted more ethnic approach to her songs with the participation of the Cretan Lyra. Her new album under the title "A-gapisou" (a.k.a. Love yourself) was released two years later in July 2009. It is a rock album written and performed by Theodosia with the assistance of Manolis Karantinis and his bouzouki which coloured five songs of the album in a new light. It is another new sound that is experimenting with and she is confessing a lifetime story enjoying it all the way. Her new name is Babalou and the song "Babalou" is baptizing the coming of the new dimension, the new reality, the dreamer. Babalou is the heroine who is discovering and creating a new self, capturing the consciousness of real passionate moments. She sings the blues, she celebrates John Lennon with a ballad with just a guitar, "Just love the man", she rocks in Athens in the song "Zoume anamesa tous" (a.k.a. We live amongst them) and she dedicates to the Greek man the song "To telio paidi" (a.k.a. The perfect kid). After the release of her new album, Theodosia appeared in Athens, in Technopolis in Gazi, in July 2009. Moreover, she appeared in Thessaloniki's Block 33, in Kittaro, Athens and until now, she is touring around Greece. ................................ Η Θεοδοσία Τσάτσου γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στη Μελβούρνη της Αυστραλίας. Έχοντας σπουδάσει μουσική και χορό, συμμετείχε σε μικρά συγκροτήματα και θεατρικές ομάδες πoυ αvέβαζαv σχολείο παραστάσεις και αποσπάσματα απo γνωστά μιούζικαλ. Στα δεκαεφτά της χρόνια επιστρέφει στηv Ελλάδα κάνοντας μόνιμη κατοικία της τη Θεσσαλονίκη, όπου τέλειωσε τo Κρατικό Θέατρο Βορείου Ελλάδος. Ολοκλήρωσε τις μουσικές σπουδές και αποφοίτησε από τηv Αγγλική φιλολογία. Στη Θεσσαλονίκη, γνωρίστηκε με τον Γιώργο Παπαποστόλου, ιδρυτικό μέλος του συγκροτήματος Μπλε, και αυτή η γνωριμία κατέληξε σε συνεργασία στο εν λόγω σχήμα. Το 1996 κυκλοφόρησε από τους Μπλε ο δίσκος "Ενοχές", στον οποίο η Θεοδοσία Τσάτσου ανέλαβε τα φωνητικά. Ο δίσκος γνώρισε ιδιαίτερη επιτυχία, με κομμάτια όπως το "Νιώθω Ένοχές", "Φοβάμαι" και "Εσύ δεν ζεις πουθενά" να παίζονται συχνά στο ραδιόφωνο και να γίνονται αγαπητά και γνώριμα στον κόσμο. Το συγκρότημα παρουσίασε υλικό που κινείται στους χώρους της Ποπ-Ροκ με έντονα μπλουζ/funk στοιχεία, ταυτότητα δηλαδή που ταιριάζει στην ερμηνεία και το στυλ της Θεοδοσίας Τσάτσου. Ωστόσο, η Θεοδοσία αποχώρησε από το συγκρότημα μόλις τον επόμενο χρόνο και ακολούθησε solo καριέρα, ξεκινώντας την προσπάθειά της το 1999 με τον δίσκο "Ύποπτος Κόσμος", ο οποίος είναι ο πρώτος δίσκος στον οποίο η Θεοδοσία συμμετείχε μουσικά και στιχουργικά. Είναι μια μουσική ενότητα πoυ περιστρέφεται γύρω από τον κύκλο της ζωής και ξεκινάει από τo βυθό της σκέψης και επιπλέει στον αφρό τωv αισθημάτων. Με την κυκλοφορία του "Ύποπτου Κόσμου", κάνει εμφανίσεις στη μουσική σκηνή Μετρό, ενώ στη συνέχεια ακολουθούν συναυλίες σε όλη την Ελλάδα. Το ίδιο καλοκαίρι συμμετέχει στη συναυλία της Βουλής Των Εφήβων στο Καλλιμάρμαρο. Στο διάστημα των επόμενων δύο χρόνων συμμετέχει στον δίσκο "Τα Δοκάρια Στο Γρασίδι Περιμένουν Τα Παιδιά", των Πυξ Λαξ, ερμηνεύοντας μαζί τους τα τραγούδια "Μόνο Για Κείνη Μη Μου Λες" και "Στο Αίμα Μου Αλλάζει Ο Καιρός". Στη συνέχεια εμφανίζεται μαζί τους για δυο βράδια στον Λυκαβηττό όπου και αποθεώνεται από το κοινό. Επίσης συμμετέχει και στον δίσκο των Mode Plagal "III", ερμηνεύοντας με μοναδικό τρόπο το τραγούδι "Τα Παιδιά Της Γειτονιάς Σου" αλλά και στον δίσκο "Γέφυρες Στις Ταράτσες", του συγκροτήματος Μάσκες ερμηνεύοντας το τραγούδι "Άγαν-γραν". Παράλληλα όμως με αυτές τις δραστηριότητες αναζητά το υλικό του επόμενου δίσκου της και έτσι έρχεται σε επαφή με διάφορους καλλιτέχνες και μουσικούς όπως ο Γιάννης Νάστας (Xaxakes), Κλέων Αντωνίου (Mode Plagal), Γιώργος Μίχας. Αποτέλεσμα όλης αυτής της αναζήτησης ήταν ο νέος της δίσκος "Κόκκινο" που κυκλοφόρησε την άνοιξη του 2002, όπου η ίδια εκτός από την ερμηνεία, γράφει στίχους και μουσική για κάποια τραγούδια και ο Γιάννης Νάστας αναλαμβάνει την ενορχήστρωση. Αυτός ο δίσκος είναι ο πιο ποικιλόμορφος της σταδιοδρομίας της, με τραγούδια που κυμαίνονται από στοχαστικούς ρυθμούς όπως το "Let the music", ή το "Που να'σαι τώρα", μέχρι και τα γλυκά χτυπήματα θερινής αγάπης όπως το "Στη Θάλασσα". Με το δίσκο αυτό, η Θεοδοσία Τσάτσου κατάφερε να κερδίσει μια υψηλή θέση ανάμεσα στη μοντέρνα Ελληνική μουσική σκηνή. Τον χειμώνα του 2006 κυκλοφόρησε η νέα δισκογραφική της δουλειά με το όνομα "Στη Λεωφόρο της , Εύας". Η σημαντική διαφορά με το προηγούμενο album είναι ότι κινείται σε τελείως διαφορετικό ήχο, ύφος καθώς ραπάρει με΄σα από τον «Ορίωνα», τη «Λεωφόρο της Εύας» και το «Κάτω από τη ζώνη» . Την μουσική συνυπογράφουν η Θεοδοσία και ο Πωλ Στεφανίδης, ενώ τους στίχους αποκλειστικά η ίδια, με εξαίρεση την συμμετοχή της Γιώτας Δαβλάρα στο εισαγωγικό "Ποιος είσαι εσύ που με κοιτάς". Οι πειραματισμοί και οι καινοτομίες είναι εμφανείς σε όλο το μήκος των δέκα συνθέσεων. Η σύλληψη μιας ενιαίας ιδέας, δηλαδή της εσωτερικής, γυναικείας αναζήτησης για αυτογνωσία και συναισθηματική δικαιοσύνη, δείχνει να λειτουργεί σωστά, χωρίς να βάζει στο υλικό ταμπέλες και να οδηγεί σε κλισέ εξομολογήσεις. Η ειλικρίνεια στα λόγια του "Θέλω να σε δω" είναι η πιο πειστική απόδειξη. Από τον Φεβρουάριο του 2007 και για λίγες παραστάσεις, η Θεοδοσία Τσάτσου πραγματοποίησε live εμφανίσεις στο Μετρό, στο πλευρό του Μάνου Πυροβολάκη. Η νέα δισκογραφική της δουλειά με το όνομα "Α ΓΑΠΗΣΟΥ" κυκλοφορεί δύο χρόνια αργότερα τoν Ιούλιο του 2009. Ο δίσκος ξεκινάει με ροκ πενιές, με τον Μανώλη Καραντίνη να δίνει ρέστα με το μπουζούκι και τη Θεοδοσία να ροκάρει και είναι φανερό πως απολαμβάνει και η ίδια να πατάει πάνω στον πρωτότυπο ήχο της φορώντας τη μάσκα της ηρωίδας που έπλασε, της Babalou! Σαν παραγωγή όμως η πιο εξαιρετική στιγμή του δίσκου είναι μάλλον η "Γυμνή σοκολάτα". Ένα απολαυστικό blues κομμάτι που θα περίμενες να το έχει σκαρφιστεί κάποιος μέντορας του είδους, πίσω όμως κρύβεται ξανά η ...Babalou που μάλιστα εδώ κυριολεκτικά ζωγραφίζει με την ερμηνεία της! Οι πειραματισμοί είναι διάχυτοι σ' αυτή τη δουλειά. Κάθε τραγούδι έχει τη δική του προσωπικότητα, κρύβει τα δικά του μυστικά, δίνει στη Θεοδοσία μια ξεχωριστή αφορμή να απλώσει τη φωνή της και να παρασύρει τον κόσμο στα παιχνίδια της... Οι στίχοι είναι κι αυτοί έξυπνα γραμμένοι, με πολλές "μπιχτές" και έξυπνες ατάκες κι όποτε χρειάζεται με τον απαραίτητο ερωτισμό. Μετά τη κυκλοφορία του νέου δίσκου, η Θεοδοσία Τσάτσου πραγματοποίησε μια επιστροφή στα live της πρωτεύουσας με μια εμφάνιση στο Τεχνόπολις, στο Γκάζι. Το φθινόπωρο του 2009, συνέχισε τις live εμφανίσεις τόσο στη Θεσσαλονίκη (Block 33) όσο και στην Αθήνα (Κύτταρο).
