Following a decade of intensive musical activity in New York & London,
Avi Lebovich returned to Israel. While abroad, Lebovich recorded albums and collaborated with jazz & pop icons such as Bootsy Collins, Phillip Baily (of "Earth, Wind and Fire), Chik Corea, Milt Jackson, James Moody, Slide Hampton, Roy Hargrove, Brad Meldau, Larry Willis, "Incognito" and other legendary jazz musicians.
Lebovich has written, produced and preformed two of the most prestigious jazz albums who received outstanding reviews worldwide in magazines such as:
"Down Beat", "Jazz Times", "Village Voice", "Hot House", "Caddis", "F-1", "Jazzes" and many more. The reviewed albums are "Shades of Brass" and "Constant Chase".
As a writer and arranger, Lebovich has collaborated with top international groups and big-bands such as: Michel Camilo Big-Band, Chico O'Farell Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra, Milt Jackson's Big-Band, Slide Hampton and the Jazz Masters and Smalls Big-Band.
In 2003 Lebovich retuned to Israel and started putting together " The Orchestra". Thirteen Israeli top jazz musicians capturing the essence of the Israeli contemporary music. The Orchestra's live show is a vibrant interactive groove dialog between the brass and reed section.
Recently, Avi has received two of the most prestigious awards for composition and arrangement: "The Israeli Prime Minister Award" and the "Landau Award".
