Milano, estate 2005. Nascono i ThePinkRays, ovvero Enrico (voce), Fabio (chitarre), Niño (basso) e Gerald (batteria). Enrico e Fabio vengono da due illustri esperienze hardcore punk del milanese: il primo come voce nella seconda incarnazione dei Sottopressione e il secondo come sei corde degli Stuntplasticpark. Enrico, milanese di adozione ma di origine svedese, ha dimestichezza con la lingua inglese per nascita ed esigenza, ed è dotato di un timbro di voce unico in cui malinconiche melodie possono esplodere in urla graffianti. Fabio, milanese, è autore di riff ispirati, taglienti ed essenziali. Assieme decidono di darsi a un qualcosa di più prettamente rock'n'roll (ma non solo), influenzati da band come Gang of four, Pixies, Strokes, Faint, Joy Division e Velvet Underground: adrenalina rock e melodia pop, insomma. L'idea è un suono diretto, coinvolgente, essenziale, nervoso, ma allo stesso tempo gradevole e ricco di spunti melodici. Ed ecco che tirano in mezzo il resto della band. Gerald, italo-venezuelano, suona la batteria praticamente da quando è nato ed è infatuato di tribalismo garage ma anche dalla virulenza dei Black Flag. Niño, milanese, in origine chitarrista funky/blues imbraccia il basso con l'intenzione di dipingere di decise dinamiche p-funk la sessione ritmica. /
Summer 2005. The Pink Rays are born, Enrico(voice), Fabio (guitars), Niño (bass) and Gerald (drums). Enrico and Fabio come from two eminent hardcore-punk experiences in Milan: the former as the singer of Sottopressione the latter as guitarist in Stuntplasticpark.
Enrico, from Milan but with an international background (he’s half Swedish), has an incredible voice in which melancholic melodies can explode in sharp screams.
Fabio, from Milan, is author of essential inspired and adrenalin filled riffs.
Toghether they decide to start a musical project more rock’n’roll oriented (but not only), influenced by bands like Gang of four, Pixies, Strokes, Faint, Joy Division and Velvet Underground. Rock adrenalin and pop melodies.
The plan is clear: energy and melody. The sound? Direct, loud, passionate, essential, adrenalin filled, yet full of catchy hooks. And so they recruit the rest of the band.
Gerald, half Italian half Venezuelan, has been playing drums since basically the age of 4, and loves both garage tribalism and the energy of Black Flag.
Niño, from Milan, a blues/funky trained guitarist, who switched to the role of bass adding a whole new p-funk dimension to the sound.
