The Points are a group of crazy party-bangers from Washington DC who are dedicated to ripping your beard off as their main mission statement implies, but still know how to bend their Ebenezer & the Bludgeons-style punk bashing into a formidable breeze of satisfying sonic sewage. Humming keyboards and menacingly metronomic drums blend together like butter and send waves of dementia similar to those emanating from the first few bars of some of the greatest Spits' hits, so you can rest assured that they'll deliver a raw, good time based on their reckless enthusiasm alone.

The Points is D.C.'s best band. And really, the competition is not even close. The Points comfortably held the title of the city's best live band for a while but now that its jarring jolt of energy has been successfully captured on record, it gets the more general title. The just-released self-titled debut, is just about as perfect a punk rock album as you'll hear this year. The fast and loud basics are there, but so are the hooks. The Points write songs.
