The Primary 5 is the solo project of ex Teenage Fanclub drummer Paul Quinn.
Formed in Bellshill, 14 miles east of Glasgow in 2002 following his departure from the Glasgow popsters, Paul, having never played guitar, sung or written a song before, had 3 demos which quickly turned into 10 songs and very soon The Primary 5' 1st album,North Pole was written and recorded. Paul released North Pole on his own Bellbeat Music label to critical acclaim. The record would be licensed in U.S.A (Microindie Records) Japan (This Time Records) and Korea (Beatball Records)
The Primary 5 played there first show at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow on August 7th 2002 to a sold out crowd, many more live shows followed culminating in a UK tour support to the late legendary Arthur Lee & Love. This was infact to be Arthur' final tour before his sad passing.
2006 saw work start on The Primary 5' 2nd studio album "Go", which was funded by The Scottish Arts Council, a fund set up to help artist's realise their dreams. Paul approached former band mates Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley to assist with the recording. Raymond engineering/producing guitars and Norman doing likewise with vocals.
Raymond also played guitar on the outro of "Stars and Stripes" with Norman adding harmonies to "Off Course". Go was released in April 2007 by Re-Action Records, London. Go had taken the band sonically a step forward from North Pole and again the album received critical acclaim worldwide.
The Primary 5 have just completed the recording of there 3rd album "High Five" due for release in August 2008 on Glasgow based label Neon Tetra Records.
