I try to listen to every kind of music that is out there. I don't want to limit my options and miss out on something truly beautiful. I grew up on pop, R&B, metal, and alternative. As a movie lover, I have to admit a love for orchestral film scores and that multi-timbral, multi-layered approach to providing mood, tension, and theme. For almost a decade, I also played drums (and quite a bit of synth in the later years) in a band called Sound Mind, who although labeled "industrial" were what they ended up calling "new rock" 5 years later, so that's gotta hop into my songwriting a bit.
Sounds Like
A LOT of overdubbing. Slightly sloppy, a little cocky... but all ROCKy. (I crack myself up.)

A few decades ago, a baby boy's parents made a critical child-rearing error: they bought their infant son a toy drum. This error would be compounded by several other errors: playing Motown albums; providing piano lessons; not hiding their old acoustic guitar well enough; singing unabashedly out loud, in key, and with harmony to their kids; etc.
(So as far as "errors" go, I think they did just fine. Could've been much worse.)
And now that son, tainted by a creative drive so chronic that his day job even involves music, must search for a way to stop the raging beast that dwells inside him. (Yeah, that last bit got changed up so as not to invite getting sued by that 70's TV show with the big green dude.)
The Proper Authorities is the solo musical project
of singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Keith Adams. Known
primarily for his drum work with the bands Sound Mind, 1000
Watt Revival, Giant
Wow, and most recently, The Goombas, Adams created the Proper Authorities to branch out and
work on his lifelong compositional and performance skills.
As in past groups, he continues to experiment strongly in the modern
pop rock genre with sounds and grooves that aren't usually found
there. His appreciation for over-the-top arrangements is tempered
nicely by his love for good hooks. His lyrics touch on a variety
of subjects: matters of self; emotional snapshots in time; tragic
and comic figures; and the things that we all want... or at least
think that we want.

Sweetie, I do NOT have a CD from you because Dan doesn't share! And are you kidding? Your music saved my LIFE -- I would love and be honored to review your CD. My address is on bitchinentertainment.com -- send it on, my dear friend!
Hey Keith, I have posted two new songs on my page:
song 1 'After Life is Eternity' A mellow instrumental rock song done with a drum machine, bass guitar, keyboards, a couple of acoustic guitars finger picked and the guitar solo done also on an acoustic.
I recorded all of this on my 4-track recorder. It contains a few mistakes here and there but I am satisfied with the end result.
song 2: 'Lullaby for the Dearly Departed' I wrote this one in honor of some family members and friends that have passed. It's just a simple instrumental acoustic piece that I did on my 4-track.
Check them both out and feel free to pass the word along.
Miss Ya Bro!!! Honest. Sunday I will do the 100th eposide of The SoupyGato Show. It's booked with bands I played in or lived with, but I really want you to do a call-in. I'd be very thankful.
When are we getting some in tunes? I've played every song once and some 3 times. Love the music!
