The sound of The Proxy is tight and dynamic. All the elements fuse together to radiate their united passion. Shades of dozens of influences hover in the clouds; Muse, Luna Halo, Emery, DcTalk, Switchfoot, The Killers and even a little U2. All these childhood influences are brewed together to create a familiar but original melodic landscape, still the final sweaty project belongs to this unique young group of guys. The boys from The Proxy are finding immediate success with rock audiences; playing one of the largest music festivals in the country at Creation Festival, as well as winning 2nd place in the national battle of the bands for the Purple Door and Kingdom Bound Festival. The boys have also been fortunate to get some national airplay on radio station "The Effect". These boys from New York know how to light up a crowd of a thousand, a church full of teenagers or a small bar full of friends. In their short time they have played along side bands like Fireflight, Nevertheless, Disciple, Decemberadio, Remedy Drive, Decyfer Down and Esterlyn.
On their first co-produced project recorded in an unassuming, local, but effective studio, their art embraces the wires, takes on a Sci-Fi motif and the outcome purposely becomes inorganic. The song crafting is meticulous; straining for an innocently addictive quality but at times purposely allowing distraction to lead into experimentation. The content is deeply spiritual, amused by life, wrestling with its paradoxes and epic choices. There is a journalistic approach to God-ward trust, authentic struggle, and legitimate hope. The Proxy is also an official World Vision Artist, championing the cause of those stuck in the cycle of poverty in Kenya. Dan, the lead singer, has traveled there to investigate work of building fresh water wells to help sustain villages.
Still, when it comes out, The Proxy is passionate rock and that’s the way they like it.
