'Young Mods The Queue were next and their spiky brand of guitar pop went down well with guitar driven gems such as “Hayfever” proving the band are all too happy to wear their influences on their sleeves. They’ve a big future ahead of them.'
A band called The Queue, with their authentic Mod threads and raw, rock n roll sound, are showing anyone who has been fortunate enough to see them play live that they have the ability to cause a similar stir to that of the Gallagher brothers back in the days when the majority of the members of The Queue were still in nappies.
The five piece are made up of Connor Smith on vocals, main songwriter Sean Smith on lead guitar, Scott McGregor on the bass, Alex ‘Hutch’ Hutchison on rhythm guitar and Jamie Ford providing the drums.
Mod upstarts The Queue got the evening off to a raucous start with an adrenaline fuelled set of life affirming rock n roll with added youthful swagger. 'Top Of The World' could have easily been written by a young Noel Gallagher whilst 'Feelin'' makes the fact that the vast majority of the band are only 16 years old downright laughable. Seeing The Queue playing live genuinely re-ignites those excitable feelings of seeing Oasis when they brewed up such a storm back in 1994 (a time when these boys were in nappies!!). They proudly wear their Beatles, Jam, Stone Roses and Verve influences on their sleeves without being plagiaristic and are a very tight and talented unit without ever being over indulgent, The Queue live experience is refreshing to say the very least.
The Queue are an emerging band from Southampton, that formed in February 2007. The band then consisted of four members (Sean, Scott, Jamie, Connor) that all shared the same influences and ambitions. The band have started to get themselves well known on the south music scene, and have had interest from record labels and promotions company. The Queue have had plenty of experience playing live shows across the south and have their first London show coming up. The band featured on a compilation CD in March 2009, that focused on the best up and coming bands from the south coast. The CD was delivered out to various major record labels. The band have supported various acts including “Nizlopi” and “Dlugokecki”, and have even been supported by Paul McCartney's Son, James McCartney, with his new music project “Light”. The Queue's live shows have been widely applauded by viewers and the band themselves prefer being known by their live shows. Reviews have helped the young bands confidence shine on stage. Even though the band are still young, their music catalogue promotes their talent, and are constantly writing new music to widen their listeners. The band hopes that 2009 will be very successful, and already have new plans, as the new year saw the addition of a fifth member, Alex Hutchison, who will be joining Sean Smith on guitar duties. The Queue have many gigs lined up for the remainder of the year, so get yourself along to one of them, you won't be disappointed
