Schon mal The Pogues mit AntiFlag gemischt und einen Reggae-Offbeat druntergelegt? THE SCATTERBRAINS - das bedeutet Punk mit exotischen Instrumenten (derzeit etwa Mandoline, Geige, Akkordeon, Tin Whistle), rauchigen Stimmen, jamaikanischen Einflüssen und folgerichtig einem Rastafari hinter den Drums. Auch im zehnten Jahr nach seiner Gründung tourt das immer wieder mal wechselnde Kollektiv aus Pforzheim durch die Lande und pflegt mit Liedern über Nonkonformität, Whiskey, Liebe und Revolution den gut tanzbaren Kontrast. Und schafft es dabei, unterschiedlichste Stilformen von Rock'n'Roll bis Klezmer, von Hardcore bis zu Ska zu berücksichtigen. Das kann dann langsam und melodisch sein, betrunken bis düster-traurig, manchmal auch gutgelaunt und optimistisch – und ab und zu brennt bei den fünf Exilanten aus der Goldstadt einfach mal gepflegt die Lunte durch und sie verwandeln das Publikum mit drei wütenden Punksongs hintereinander in eine tobende, schwitzende Masse. Abwechslung garantiert! Auch nüchtern zu empfehlen!
Für kleinere Bühnen, Pubs, JuZes gibt es auch noch SCATTERBRAINS UNPLUGGED (aka Cult O'Skaro) - dann dimmen die Scatterbrains die Regler, erweitern ihr Repertoire um Folkballaden von 1645 bis 1917 und Singer/Songwriter-Punkstücke aus den Achtzigern und lassen es etwas ruhiger angehen. Betonung liegt dann eher auf Melodie und der Kraft von Stimme, Flöte und Drehleier, das Publikum darf sich gerne auch setzen. Geheimtipp für Vernissagen und euer Wohnzimmer!
