Growing up in Silsbee as brothers, Andy and Jason always had a love for music. They were constantly playing around with unique sounds. A few of these sounds made their way onto a cassette tape. Andy joined up with some local rowdies, Cody and Mark. A band was formed called "God Fresh Hot". The music, while unique and odd, was palatable at best. With the break-up of that band, Andy wanted to continue to play music, but with a different direction..... While at work in Walmart, Andy met up with Ben. They started talking about music and found that they had quite a bit of common ground. With Ben's departure from his first band "Rocket Sauce", he was itching to continue his tradition of singing Rock N' Roll. Quickly, Andy invited Ben over to meet Jason. With the first meeting, "Make It Out Alive" was written and recorded using some old tracks Jason and Andy had created. They knew they had something that would shake the bowels of hell. They rejoiced..... Upon realizing that they needed more band members, they approached Mark and Cody, formerly of "God Fresh Hot". They agreed to Rock N' Roll; however, they needed a moniker to suit their sound. Based on a joke about Andy and his tardiness to the dinner table, The Scraps were founded in May of 2004. With a quick check of myspace, they found that nobody had taken the name(now, however if you look around, you'll find there are dozens... I know... I know)..... Songs were written quickly. Things were coming together smoothly. Their first show quickly approached. In August of 2004, the band performed approximately 12 songs to a crowd of 100 people who paid nothing to watch them perform. The Used Music Store in Lumberton would never be the same. .... As time rolled on, the band shared the stage with The Put-Downs, Small Town Massacre, Comaslide, Bullets on Broadway, Molly Maguires, Rubberhed, Big Shot Bizzarre, and other incredible local acts. But the band decided to take a hiatus after reducing themselves to nothing: playing at a church will do that to you. Three of the members moved to Austin, leaving Andy and Ben to themselves. Side projects were formed. Andy started playing with Colby, formerly of Comaslide. They created "Macintyre". Ben started playing with some other guys. They formed "Stoic" the world's greatest cover band. Jason, Cody, and Mark created a band in Austin that had no name, but still rocked..... After some their brief time away, Jason and Cody moved back to Beaumont. The Scraps were called back together for a meeting. Ben and Andy quickly quit their bands to get back to writing more kick ass music. Mark decided it was time to move on from The Scraps and follow his heart. Colby, with haste and vigor, jumped in to fill the spot on drums in May of 2007. The Scraps were BACK and better than before, might I add. .... Since then, they've recorded two EP's. "Static Revolver" and the new "Don't Forget About Me" EP's added to the incredible sound that was first started back in May of 2004. Since then, the band has opened up for great acts like The Vettes, Meriwether, The Put-Downs, The Blind Pets, Shat, Destroy Everything, and Rock N' Rolls finest Supersuckers. .... They continue to write great music and cover well written Rock N' Roll to this day.
