BioThese Four Walls have achieved a lot in the last three years. Since releasing their debut album Down Falls An Empire in September 2009, they have had two songs reach the Top 10 on the Rock Charts (Sweet December, Lay it Out), the album itself reached #22 on the Album charts, and also set a record for pre-orders on www.amplifier.co.nz, beating the previous record set by Fat Freddy's Drop. The band has supported international acts such as Nickelback, Disturbed, and Karnivool, they've toured Australia and undertaken multiple headlining tours of New Zealand, consistently growing their fanbase. And most impressively, they've done all of this as an unsigned, independent act. Their successes to date have been the result of hard work, a dedication to crafting great rock songs, and an impressive live show that incorporates their powerful, heavy riffing with soaring melodies and a tight, energetic performance. In October 2011, These Four Walls started recording their second full-length album, travelling to Queensland to work with producer Matt Bartlem (Dead Letter Circus, The Butterfly Effect) at Loose Stones Studios. The band spent 8 weeks both living and working at the 3-studio complex on the Gold Coast, before sending the tracks down to Melbourne to be mixed by veteran engineer Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Birds of Tokyo, I Am Giant). The first single Passenger was recently released in NZ where it debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes rock chart. The new album, entitled Living to Write the End, was released on 12 October 2012 and was the No. 1 selling album at JB Hi-Fi in its first week. Achievements LIVING TO WRITE THE END – CHART SUCCESS Was the #1 selling record at JB Hi-Fi stores on the week of release. The single Passenger was #1 on the iTunes Rock Chart (NZ Store). Debuted at #19 on the national album charts. DOWN FALLS AN EMPIRE – CHART SUCCESS Peaked at #1 on the www.amplifier.co.nz album chart. Was the 3rd highest selling CD on www.amplifier.co.nz in 2009. Debuted at #22 on the national album charts. Reached #14 on the JB Hi-Fi album chart. Sweet December spent over 22 weeks in the charts (#14 on the NZ Top 40 Chart, #9 on the Rock Radio Airplay Chart). Lay it Out spent 15 weeks in the charts (#9 on the Rock Radio Airplay Chart). Sweet December featured on the Jim Beam 40 Shots of Rock Vol. II compilation in October 2009.
