The Second Academy is the name under which Eric Balaban (ex-Beautiful Mothers, ex-Spiveys) is releasing new material.
The first album, The Grave From Out of Which We Briefly Wander, is out now and available on iTunes, Amazon, and through Tsurumi Records (at tsurumirecords.com).
Much of the music of the Second Academy is recorded "as close to the source as possible," meaning much of the writing occurs while the song is being recorded. On some of the songs, a few chords, an idea, or a couple of lines are all that exist before attempting to record them.
Not a manifesto, just how it turns out. Listen for the mumbles if you don't believe me.
