Exposing the Secret
In our 2006 year-end issue, Urban Tulsa Weekly named The Secret Post the "Best New Band You've Never Heard Of" and we still stand by our pick. Yes, we caught wind of this band early and so did a number of our loyal and discriminating UTW readers, but the public at large has yet to catch on. Maybe NewVo will help grab their attention.
What makes The Secret Post so cool? For starters, when was the last time you heard a goth-rock band, in the vein of the Cure, Bauhaus or Joy Division come out of little ol' Tulsa -- and a good one at that?
Of course, that's not all these guys have going on -- there are hints of Bowie, Lou Reed and even a little Southern Death Cult hovering in the background and it all comes together in a way that makes goth-rock palatable and cool again.
Then there's the mystery factor. As the band keeps itself shrouded in secrecy (fronted by "Dayruiner" and backed by "Tap" on bass, "The Vest" and "The Myth" on guitar and Nicoli on drums), the group puts on its game face and never lets its guard down unless you've reached the "inner circle." Even then, who knows how much you can separate the truth from the tale. The truth of the matter is there's a degree to which the anonymity only adds to the coolness of the band.
Upon first encountering Dayruiner and his crew, you may just find yourself wondering aloud what you're witnessing. Would anybody truly be so audacious as to revive full-on Goth rock? Is this band for real, or is it just an elaborate hoax? When The Secret Post brings dark romanticism back for the 21st century and the music is this good, do we really care? Prepare to be ruined - The Secret Post is coming for you.

The Secret Post came into existance in early 2004....it was a project brought about by DayRuiner.....he was in WiseMan at the time and needed a softer more electronic outlet for some of his writing that didnt really fit with WiseMan, although he was the primary songwriter....WiseMan was abruptly halted for undisclosed reasons.....so with that at hand, DayRuiner moved back to his home state of Oklahoma.....immediately recruited a drummer(Nicoli) from the D.I.Y. punk band The Straight-Jackits....soon after the bass player from WiseMan(Tap) showed interest in The Secret Post, so he was recruited.....DayRuiner met a few guitarists that showed wild interest in being the project, but none had dedication to even show up for auditions.....all the while the future guiatrist(The Vest) was right under his nose.....one late night at The Mercury Lounge, things were said, a decision was made, and The Vest was involuntarily inducted into the band, through internet propaganda and DayRuiners insistence.....The Vest is now happy to be part of the family......another late night at The Mercury also served as the moment DayRuiner met the future keys/synths player(HardWare).....with about 22 songs pre-written and recorded(by DayRuiner Studios), The Secret Post is ready to begin the Ruining of Tulsa.....and when I, DayRuiner, say ruining, I mean every last one of you will be ruined......you succumb to the sounds of the dance all dead.....like magick that grabs the darkness from your inner-soul, and thrusts it toward your ears.....we are The Secret Post, we will ruin you, we will make you feel sexy, dark, tortured, and undead.......enjoy my little darklings......and Dance All Dead.......demos are for sale for 5 dollars......message me(DayRuiner).......
