The Seedy Naturalists are two songwriters – Abel Mouton and Michael Mullen -- and drummer Phil Crumar and bassist Paul Lee.

Their union as a band grew naturally out of their ongoing collaboration on other projects. Individually, they've recorded and performed with some great Bay Area musicians. Together, they aim at marrying their love of the craft of songwriting (see the works of the masters) with a generous dose of carelessness, accident, insouciance, pick your word. To create great versions of great songs, but leave the window open for a breeze to blow through.

So, Seedy in two ways: a little run down, but full of pith.

And Naturalists because they delight in what requires no study but welcomes contemplation.

If Walt Whitman is John Muir with his hand down his pants… Ladies and Gentlemen, The Seedy Naturalists!

(The accompanying demo was recorded in February 2007 at Closer Recording in San Francisco by Tim Mooney (American Music Club, Toiling Midgets), who plays bells and percussion. It features Matt Sieling on bass, guitar and vocals, and Lennon Zamora on drums. "Cracked and Leaking" is a Matt Sieling composition.)
