   About The St. Romanos Chorale
Layout Provided By CodeMyLayout.com - Myspace Layouts The St. Romanos Chorale takes its name from St. Romanos, a Syrian religious poet and hymnographer of the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church, considered to be the greatest of the Byzantine melodist-poets. The music, in both Byzantine and Russin styles, is sung predominately in English as well as Greek, Arabic and Slavonic. The St. Romanos Chorale has presented the beautiful and spiritual music of the Holy Orthodox Church throughout the Southwest, from the lower Rio Grande Valley, Dallas, Houston, Galveston, Ft. Worth, Austin, Waco, Beaumont, Texas to New Orleans and Shreveport, Louisiana. The chorale has been invited and accepted invitations from many major colleges and universities in the South and Southwest, including The University of Texas, Rice University, Baylor University and three presentations at Tulane Universtity. Over the years, presentations have been made at least three times in the internationally acclaimed Rothko Chapel. The St. Romanos Chorale is self-funded. These trips and presentations, to which the public is invited, are made without cost to the host parish or venue. No admission charge is made and no donations are solicited. We are simply "putting Orthodoxy on wheels" as it has been called and and it is our privilege to share the richly spiritual and beautiful music of our church with people everywhere. If you are interested in having the St. Romanos Chorale perform at your parish or event, please let us know!

..

Theotokos
More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, thee who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word, the very Theotokos, thee do we magnify.

“We celebrate the Saturday of Lazaros
with great reverence and joy.
The resurrection of Lazaros is also
viewed as a prophesy in action.
It prefigures both the resurrection of
Christ, as well as the resurrection of
all the dead in the end of times.
In addition it discloses the two natures
of Christ, the divine and the human.
Christ manifested His divine power by
His foreknowledge of the death of Lazaros
and by the final outcome, the miracle
of the resurrection. Jesus also displayed
deep human emotions, such as
sympathy and compassion, as well
as distress and sadness. Christ signed
from the heart and wept (Jn 11. 5, 33, 35, 36, 38).”
A. C. Calivas

O Christ our God, before Your Passion,
You raised Lazarus from the dead to
confirm the common Resurrection for all.
Therefore, we carry the symbols of victory
as did the youths, and we cry out to You,
the victor over death, "Hosanna in the
highest. Blessed is He who comes
in the name of the Lord. "
