my patient family
all the amazing musicians who travel across town or across the country sharing their music and their lives
everyone who comes to shows and supports local and independent music!
DIRECTIONS TO THE VERTICAL VIOLET: We are 4 blocks west of Wesley Hospital, on the corner of Murdock and Volutsia.
The Vertical Violet is the concert space in Mo & Breck Barnharts house, 665 N. Volutsia in Wichita KS. We have opened up our 1928 Colonial home to offer a place for local and touring bands and musicians to perform, eat, relax, and rejuvenate. We strive to offer a completely unique concert experience, surrounded by color, art, food, and all the comforts of home. We are passionate about building a true community of musicians, artists, and supporters by providing a beautiful, safe and nuturing environment in which all can interact
There is a suggested donation of $3 for all shows. You are welcome to give more and it is ok to give less - we never want anyone to miss a show due to lack of cash. Please be as generous as you possibly can!! ALL donations go directly to the musicians - we are not in this to make money, but only to support those who bless us with their talents and music. For those acts that are on the road, this money is vital for gas and travel expenses. PLEASE do your part to help them get to their next stop. We want them to leave Wichita feeling appreciated and excited to come back!! You are also welcome to bring contributions to the kitchen like soda, ice, cups, or snacks ( you can read more about the importance of donations and how you can help and support in my blogs called "HELP WANTED" and "harsh truth" ) .
There is space available for the musicians and bands to sell their merch, and it is VERY important to support them by buying their stuff! This proves to them that you did truly enjoy their sound and want to continue listening, sharing, and supporting their music long after they have left town!!
Our hospitality is extended to all bands that are in town, not only those who play here. We offer a comfy place to sleep, plenty of home-cooked food to eat, and hopefully a memorable & restful stop on their tour.
Thanks to all of you who have been a part of the last 2 years of shows. We could not have done it without you!! Thanks to all the bands and musicians and friends who have come to play or just to eat and rest your head. We have been blessed by all of you and we look forward to seeing you again very soon. Thanks to you wonderful gals and guys who come and support the music - we hope you have left here with your bellies full of food, your ears ringing with music, and your hearts swelling with the love that is shared at every show!
We do take donations through PayPal if you would like to help us support the musicians that come through town. All money goes directly to the costs of shows and hosting bands. We appreciate you and all you do in helping keep independent music alive and well in Wichita
You can also mail donations to Mo Barnhart 665 N Volutsia Wichita KS 67214.
