Charles Xavier is one of the most sought after audio producers on the West Coast and now has returned to his heart passion of creating music. After Berklee College of Music, he headed to Woodstock, New York where he studied under jazz greats Karl Berger, Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland and John Ambercrombie. Then off to LA where he played Hollywood jazz clubs and wrote tons of material. Pulled in by new technologies in audio recording, he turned to recording. Now he’s back with his big ears and experimental approaches that bring down the house with big sounds, big ideas and conscious lyrics that speak of the power of one’s voice. Whether crying out on the injustices of the ineffective response to Hurricane Katrina to the dreams buried deep in the heart, Xavier delivers a powerful musical landscape and a creative, thought-provoking journey.
The label is interested in opening up for tours, licensing and placement for film and TV industries.

*Jan 1 2007: Bottom line, the comic book Xavier may have created the X-Men, but this Xavier is the X man and the X stands for anything he wants it to.-Lucid Forge review.
*Feb 2007: Or, more historically accurate: Blues, Jazz, Country, Soul, Rock, Funk, Pop. All of these genres are represented in Charles Xavier’s The Xman Cometh. Xavier, a true music polymath (music and video production, percussion, leader of several avant garde jazz outfits), has put together a group of compositions that manage to touch on all of the afore-mentioned genres-The Mondo Project
Hollywood & Heaven featuring the music of Charles Xavier & Eric Harrington with special guests Sam Riney, Glenn Feit, John Harrison III, Jackie Bertone & Vinnie Colauita.

New Bedford native Xavier is a vibraphonist, composer and arranger whose experimental style pushes jazz and funk rock to new boundaries with big sounds and big ideas that bring down the house. The New Bedford Core brings together some of the area’s most fearless artists: avant garde saxophonist Rick Britto, improvisational guitarist Jim Robitaille, high chop percussionist Danny Schwartz, monster bassist Rob Massoud and hypnotic groove master drummer Chris Poudrier. The set featured songs from Xavier’s latest CD of Happy Note Records, “The XMan Cometh, Expect the Unexpected.”

Review: This is one of the few albums that one must work at to enjoy. So much is going on that if you don’t pay attention every second, the experience will get away from you. It’s not a bad thing and catching up is fun. The XMan is an audio chef mixing ingredients in a CD bowl. You can actually hear when he adds the pepper just above the horns. Forget the salt, it’s all healthy. But sometimes I can hear the trans-fat oozing across the tracks. His dessert can make you fat, but fat and fate are just one letter apart…..turn up the sound to the max for Hollywood & Heaven and eat away.
