After contemplating a career as a politician or ambassador, TIGARAH felt she could best speak her mind if she made music her life. So, shortly after majoring in political science at Tokyo's renowned Keio University, she started writing lyrics on her own in her tiny room in Tokyo, inspired by the Baile Funk music from Brazil. In several trips to Sao Paulo and Rio, TIGARAH immersed herself in Brazilian culture and recorded music together with local musicians. It was in Rio where TIGARAH met MR. D, who was on tour in South America at that time. Since 2003, they have been recording tracks together. After self-releasing an EP with 7 original songs, they landed a record deal in 2006. Expect their new material to transcend cultural boundaries.
TIGARAH's songs are inspired by many different styles: electro, Baile Funk, pop and hip-hop, all blended together with her clever rhymes in Japanese that cover such topics as culture clash, fake people and defending your own style, all elements of creativity from a self-confident woman.
TIGARAH is all about going against the mainstream in today's world of mass culture, choosing your own goal in life and going after your dream. TIGARAH's first album "Revolution" is scheduled for spring 2008... stay tuned!

Nachdem sie sich ernsthaft ueberlegt hatte, Politikerin oder Botschafterin zu werden, beschloss TIGARAH, dass sie als Saengerin wohl die meisten Menschen erreichen koenne. Seither ist Musik ihr Leben. Noch waehrend sie in Tokyo die Schulbank drueckte, begann sie, Songtexte zu schreiben, inspiriert durch brasilianische Baile Funk Musik (eine Art Hip-hop aus den Ghettos von Rio). In mehreren Trips nach Sao Paulo und Rio tauchte TIGARAH in die brasilianische Kultur ein und nahm Songs mit lokalen Kuenstlern auf. In Rio lernte sie auch MR. D kennen, einen DJ und Musik Produzenten, der derzeit in suedamerika auf Tournee war. Seit 2003 schreiben die beiden zusammen Musik. Ihre ersten Songs veroeffentlichten sie selbst auf dem Internet - und landeten damit glatt einen Plattenvertrag.
TIGARAHs Songs sind inspiriert durch verschiedenen Stilrichtungen. Energetischer Baile Funk und Club Music mischen sich mit funky Hip-hop, alle bunt zusammen gewuerfelt mit cleveren Texten ueber Japanische Pop Kultur, echte und falsche Freunde, unerschuetterliches Selbstbewusstsein und das Leben ganz allgemein. TIGARAH repraesentiert mit Ihrem Sound das Image des wirklichen "Tokyo Girls" in der ganzen Welt, so ganz ohne Klischees und abgelutschte Vorurteile.
Bei TIGARAH geht es immer darum, gegen den Strom zu schwimmen. Das Leben ist zu kurz, um nicht seinen eigenen Traeumen nachzugehen! Eine Konzert-Tour in Amerika, Europa und Japan ist derzeit in Planung und TIGARAHs erstes Album "Revolution" kommt im Fruehling 2008 raus... Stay tuned!
