Tikun founded in 1999 by Drummer, Rob Citron, who has brought together the most talented classical and jazz musicians in Barcelona to interpret and create a special blend of Klezmer music. Their interpretations of classic Klezmer songs and original compositions are spontaneous, interactive and full of passion, combining the virtuosity of classical music, the high energy and improvisation of jazz and the deep rooted power of the East European Jewish tradition. Coming from the east coast of the USA we've obviously seen a lot of Klezmer groups but none as inventive and unique as Tikun. Mixing the traditional with jazz and Mediterranean influences Tikun entertains, challenges and best of all makes you want to get up and dance. I hope Rob and his group can come to the states one day...If you're in Europe and you've got a Bar/Bat Mitzvah or wedding coming up HIRE THEM! First of all, Rob and the Citron Production's Team made sure all aspects of the event ran smoothly..they certainly helped in navigating the very difficult world of Spanish event planning (at least for foreigners it's difficult...no HABLO espanol...ROTFLOL) but wow, when Tikun started to play it was amazing. We were worried the kids would be asking "When does the DJ start?" but that wasn't a problem at all. They had everyone..young and old...up dancing no-stop. We didn't want to let them finish their set and the teenagers were flipping out over how cool Jewish Music could be. Thanks again Citron Productions, my family will never forget that special day..... We also perform Klezmer in various styles to show the influence American pop music (Ragtime, Dixieland, Big Band, Jazz, and Broadway theatre music) had on the Eastern European immigrants when they arrived to the United States. As a result, klezmer music's popularity grew and American composers and band leaders such as Benny Goodman incorporated jazz versions of klezmer songs into their repertoire, such as "And the Angels Sing" Der Shtiler Bulgar (Quiet Bulgar) .. .. We also include original contemporary songs that represent how Klezmer music has evolved and is still alive and growing strong. Our shows are educational and interactive focusing on the preservation of Jewish music and its heritage.
