Midwest Record - Chris Spector
“Nick Drake may be dead and not coming back unless another commercial discovers him, but until he does come back, Drake fans can please themselves with Miller and his new batch of songs and remixes.”
Muzikreviews.com - Keith “MuzikMan” Hannaleck
“After releasing the critically acclaimed Adelaide (we liked it) Tim follows up with a 5 track EP titled Sessions Lamar. Miller is an intelligent and lucid singer/songwriter/musician that encapsulates everything you would want to hear from an indie artist. I appreciated his innate sense of rhythm with his guitar playing, then to weave the lyrics around the music so emotionally… it all coalesces beautifully and during each track you end up in a free fall right into the story.
The songwriting and musicianship is vibrant, fresh, and incredibly catchy. Although only five songs are offered here the impact is tremendous on every recording. The Cat Stevens song “Father and Son” is very powerful and Miller sounds a lot like the originator of the song, which in turn prompts chills to go up and down your spine. The rest of the EP is equally attractive lyrically and musically and basically has the same effect. “Man Overboard” is exceptional as well and it closes out the EP with Miller wearing his heart on his sleeve, as he does throughout the CD.
This is an impressive EP and hopefully just a teaser to a full length release that will be following.”
Skope - Jimmy Rae
"Tim Miller is the real deal. . . . He has an element of satisfying charm about him through his music that comes across to the listeners in a huge way."
Wildy's World - Wildy Haskell
"....Tim Miller is the sort of singer-songwriter I can easily picture still performing in the popular realm 20 years from now. Perhaps not as the superstar flavor of the minute type, but the long term singer-songwriter who builds up a resume of respect and awe amongst his fans and those within the industry. Give him a listen. You won't regret the time."
All Access Magazine - Kim Thore
"Miller has put together an uncomplicated and unfussy collection of thirteen songs that are melodic and soothing. Miller is more of a songwriter/singer than the other way around… that is not to say vocally he lacks—the opposite is true as he has a very persuasive and effortless delivery that wraps around the listener. However, his delivery is such that it doesn’t blanket his songwriting which at times seems quite autobiographical yet with mass appeal.
Meaning? You may find yourself or someone you know in this moving compilation."
OnMilwaukee - D.O.
"A strong collection of songs delivered in a seemingly effortless but still winsome manner. Think of Michael Penn singing the songs that Jakob Dylan and others write on their best days."
Left of the Dial - Lisa Town
"...Miller has honed his craft into beautiful songs..."
Tim Miller @ Club Dada - Kate Mackley
"Occasionally an artist comes out of the woodwork that you've never heard before and you wonder why. Tim Miller is that kind of a musician."
Smother.net - J-Sin
"His voice is sincere pocketed with melodic notes that sugar coats each line from his impressive songbook."
themusicedge.com - Kat Coffin
"Tim Miller’s self-released debut CD Out Of The Box is an outstanding example of a singer/songwriter at his finest."
Playback:stl - John Kujawski
"It’s nice to hear an artist who can really sing the great songs he writes."
Metro.Pop - the Light Bulb Popped
"These songs give a sense of space, depth and range that manage to build soundscapes with a heartbeat."
About Tim Miller:
Dallas based singer songwriter Tim Miller burst on to the scene with his album Out Of The Box, quickly leading to a growing reputation for engaging, mature songwriting and emotionally charged live shows, a loyal fan base and licensing agreements for MTV's My Super Sweet 16, Real World, Road Rules and The Challenge.
Adelaide, Tim's second release, has garnered airplay at scores of radio stations nationwide, a Paste Magazine Recommends selection, and has been licensed for MTV's Real World, Road Rules, The Challenge, The Hills, The City, The Stylist, Parental Control; Oxygen Network's Bad Girls Club; E! Network's Keeping up with the Kardashians, and Kloe and Kourtney Go To Miami.
Produced by Chris Bell (Erykah Badu, Polyphonic Spree, Eagles) and mastered by Adam Ayan (Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, Phish, Ani DiFranco), Adelaide stands out from the crowd of cookie cutter singles with its raw honesty, sonic integrity and artistic vision.
About Sessions Lamar:
The Sessions Lamar EP is the highly anticipated follow up to last year's critically acclaimed Adelaide. To give an analog rich sound to Tim's signature acoustic rock vibe, Adelaide was recorded to tape using vintage instruments including Mellotron, Hammond B-3 and Rhodes. For the Sessions Lamar EP, Tim now pares down the production to focus on what he's best at: the song. Featuring three songs from Adelaide, a new single, as well as a cover, Sessions Lamar goes straight to Tims roots; a man and his acoustic guitar. The minimal production showcases Tim's voice, bringing the lyrics to the forefront and straight to the listener. Without pretense, the Sessions Lamar EP is beautifully simple and pure.
In addition to releasing a new single, I wanted to take a few songs from Adelaide and completely strip them down - present them in a raw, intimate and vulnerable manner - as if I were just sitting in front of you with my guitar and that's it. I wanted to do the same thing with Yusuf Islam's (Cat Stevens) Father and Son - a song I've always been inspired by. - Tim Miller
