Tish Hinojosa is renowned for moving with equal grace through folk, country, pop and Hispanic idioms. Her music has come to be known for dissolving the boundaries between cultures, languages and musical genres.
As the youngest of thirteen children born into a Mexican-American family in San Antonio, TX, Tish listened to both the traditional Mexican songs on her parents’ radio as well as the pop, rock and folk music of the early 60’s played by her older siblings. Combining a vision that embraces all of these musical styles with a pure soprano, Tish’s music reflects modern America’s multicultural richness with sincerity, heart and a joyous musicality.
With over a dozen albums, including “Culture Swing” - NAIRD Award for Best Folk Album, and numerous national and European tours, Tish has developed a loving and loyal audience. Hinojosa has contributed her talent at numerous events on behalf of children, bilingual education, immigration affairs and farm workers. Tish also performed at the Presidential inauguration in 1993 and by invitation at the White House for President and Mrs. Clinton.
Hinojosa’s songs have been recorded by Linda Ronstadt and Joan Baez. Among those artists she has recorded with are: Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakum, Nancy Griffith, Kris Kristofferson, Joan Baez and Albert Lee. Tish has performed with various eminent symphonies throughout the United States.
