    TJ Bennett has been writing romance since 2000, but she’s been interested in it a lot longer than that. It wasn’t the best of romance that got her writing, however; it was the worst. After slamming one particularly awful novel against the wall and complaining to her husband, “I can do better than that,” he challenged her to “just do it.” That was all the encouragement she needed. She joined RWA® and never looked back.

    Her first published novel, The Legacy, a historical romance set in Early Reformation Germany about the destructive nature of secrets, was an April 2008 release (Medallion Press). It was selected by All About Romance as a "Desert Isle Keeper" and "Buried Treasure 2008." It is still available for order through Amazon.com or your local bookstore. Her follow up novel, THE PROMISE, a Night Owl Romance TOP PICK, will be in stores in May 2009.

    A word about sending me FRIEND REQUESTS. While I believe wholeheartedly in free speech, if your profile image contains what I consider to be objectionable material, I will not approve your friend request. I'm pretty flexible, and will likely approve things that don't go beyond PG-13, but on the off chance that my kids decide to view my profile, I would prefer not to have images I wouldn't let them view on someone else's profile showing up on mine.     Everything! I love my iPod and use it well. Some of the music currently playing on my profile page is by one of my fabulously talented cousins, jazz pianist D.D. Jackson. His albums are available through Amazon.com.

    I like oldies but goodies like CASABLANCA and IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, silly films like Monty Python's HOLY GRAIL, but I also like intelligent films that ask deep questions, such as the following. BRAZIL: bureaucracy, the new terrorism; GATTICA: "There Is No Gene For The Human Spirit"; INSOMNIA: does the end justify the means?; THE MATRIX (1): what is reality?; MEMENTO: "Some memories are best forgotten"; HAMLET (2000): Shakespeare revisioned. Does perception define reality?; HIGH NOON: is courage stepping forward when others step back?; THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE: "Vanity: definitely my favorite sin": a lawyer without a soul may seem redundant, but not in this case; BROADCAST NEWS: where Hell is defined as the lowering of our standards, bit by bit; FEARLESS (with Jeff Bridges) and THE SIXTH SENSE: again, perception vs. reality: if we believe something is true, is it?; SCHINDLER'S LIST: "Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire"; COLLATERAL DAMAGE: an everyman in extraordinary circumstances; EMPEROR'S CLUB: "An idealistic prep school teacher attempts to redeem an incorrigable student" but not with the ending you'd expect; MERCHANT OF VENICE (with Al Pacino as Shylock): "the quality of mercy is not strained"; religious intolerance from the Jew's point of view; MARTIN LUTHER: What is faith?; UNFORGIVEN: facing up to one's past; NOTORIOUS: what would you be willing to do for love?

    Don't watch much, but I will admit to the occasional stolen guilty pleasure of DANCING WITH THE STARS.

    Romance novels, mostly, because I have to keep up with my competition, but I'm enjoying the Julia Gray historical mystery series right now by Deanna Raybourne.

  • Heroes

    My mom, who was extraordinary in so many ways. And my husband, who like a jack-in-the-box, keeps popping up no matter how many times he's knocked down.

Welcome to my new page here on myspace! I write historical and paranormal romance. My stories are a little dark and edgy, yet laced with a subtle thread of humor throughout. My historicals have been termed “outside the box” because they deal with unusual settings and times. My heroes are protectors, and my heroines are survivors. My heroes want to take care of their women, but my heroines are used to taking care of themselves. They're both tough, yet willing to risk everything for love. The excitement and tension in their relationships come from learning to give up some of that control. My stories are lushly romantic and even a bit sexy, but what makes them sexy is the focus on the development of relationships that stand the test of time, that survive despite the dangers they find themselves in, that compel them to make sacrifices for one another and for love. When they finally connect, we believe they belong together forever, and so do they ... although they may need convincing now and then!
