   About Toad the Wet Sprocket
Named in honor of a sketch by the Monty Python comedy troupe, this 4-piece band of Santa Barbara, CA high school cronies came to be known as Toad the Wet Sprocket in 1986. To this day, their mellow, melodic folk-pop sound made them one of the most successful alternative rock bands of the early 1990s.

What's up with the band?

Glen Phillips:

Glen recently released cds with two projects: Plover with Neilson Hubbard and Garrison Starr and Remote Tree Children with John Askew. Glen is currently touring with Works Progress Administration, a project with Sean and Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek), Luke Bulla (Jerry Douglas, Ricky Skaggs), Greg Leisz (Lucinda Williams, Wilco), Benmont Tench (Heartbreakers), Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello), and Davey Faragher (Cracker, Elvis Costello). Check WPAmusic.com for dates near you. In February he will once again be on the Cayamo cruise, this time with WPA.

Dean Dinning:

Dean is co-writing with Todd Nichols and hit writers in Nashville and L.A. for upcoming projects. Check out Myspace.com/DeanDinning to hear what he's currently working on. Dean also composed the music and songs for the independent film "Desertion", which won the Valley International Film Festival's Best Feature Film award in 2009. In his spare time, Dean manages Toad's touring, licensing, and merchandise business.

Todd Nichols:

Todd is currently co-writing with Dean Dinning as well as hit writers in Nashville and L.A. and producing demos for new songs for upcoming projects. Some of these demos are posted at Myspace.com/ToddNichols.

Randy Guss:

Randy still plays the drums.

@Malaki
Back on Jan 11, you asked about the song "What Time Is It?(4:30)"

The song you're thinking of isn't by Toad, it's the Spin Doctors.
It's on their "Pocket Full Of Kryptonite" album.

12+ years is WAAAAY too long to be wondering what a song is! If your wife still thinks you're crazy, at least it won't be about this anymore. :)

Wanted Two Bands for Label Consideration

There is currently a search for two types of bands for record label consideration.

Group 1.

We are seeking a Pop/Rock Commercial band with female lead vocals. Band should consist of 2 guitars (Prefer both guitar players to be of lead caliber. However, one lead and one rhythm is acceptable), keyboard/piano, bass, and drums. *** Average age of the band should not exceed 28 years of age.

* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist.
** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong.
*** Group cannot currently be under any contract, of any type, that is related to the music industry.

Go to our MySpace Page and READ THE POSTED INFORMATION for details and how to submit your band for consideration.

Group 2

We are seeking a Modern Rock Commercial band with male lead vocals. It must be a complete band but there are no prerequisites as it relates to the make up of the band. Average age of the band should not exceed 25 years of age. (Age has been expanded since original listing)

* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist.
** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong.
*** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
