Band MembersVarious, depending on the band. I'll note band members, instruments and song background with the lyrics of each song.
InfluencesOverall: Wide and varied -- Classical music of all flavors; Broadway (Rogers and Harterstein, Gershwins, Lerner and Loew, Sondheim, etc.); Jazz and Bop (mostly skipping the Big Band era); British Invasion (esp. the Beatles and the Kinks); classic Prog (early Yes, early Genesis, King Crimson); punk/new wave (esp. XTC); power pop (esp. Jason Falkner).

Drums: Bill Bruford, Terry Chambers, Pete Thomas, Prairie Prince, early Phil Collins, Ringo Starr ... so many other musical and tasteful drummers. You can always learn from someone, even if you're learning what not to do.

Sounds LikeAn earnest young man doing his best to impress.

   About Todd
Okay, I converted my account from a personal to a band account so I could post some songs from my small, pert ca-rear. In the absence of all the old "interests" stuff I used to have up here, I'll substitute with the following:

General Interests: My wife and kids; music, music, and more music; drums; writing; acting; theater; movies; British history; progressive politics; secular humanism; science; yoga; fitness; nutrition; cycling; swimming; scuba.

Music: I'm particularly drawn to the compact beauty of the Pop song (which IMO no band does better than XTC), but otherwise there are few genres that I don't like. What's important to me is that the music is intelligent and has some passion. As the philosopher said, "The more you love music, the more music you love."

If you want to hear some older tunes I played on and (sometimes) helped write, check out the Famous Babies MySpace site that my pal and ex-bandmate Jim Colby set up, and asked me to help with. Plenty of quirk for you NooWave fans!

And if you want to hear newish tunes I played on, head on over to Mitch Friedman's place, where I play drums on "This is a Song." There's a fair amount of quirk there as well. (Hmm, I'm beginning to detect a common thread here...)

Movies: Some favorite directors include Billy Wilder, Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, David Lean, Martin Scorsese, Charlie Chaplin, Akira Kurosawa, the Coen Brothers, and Hayao Miyazaki. So many more ... I loves me a good film.

TV: I love BritComedies, classic cartoons (Warner Bros., Max Fleischer), history and science documentaries, current events, etc. I prefer brain food over fluff (though I used to have a weakness for the "True Hollywood Story" on the E Channel, when it was really trashy).

Books: Too many to mention, though recently I've been focusing on classic fiction and history.

How I make money: During the day, I'm a writer/editor/manager doing corporate communications and Web (content, usability, design) work. When I'm not at work, I occasionally pick up freelance writing jobs centering around music journalism. If you haven't already, please check out my biweekly interviews with PopGod Andy Partridge at the MySpace XTCfans blog.

I wanted you to hear this. I'm kinda proud of it. My entry in Yoko Ono's remix contest. All the vocals that aren't her are... me. And then I did a whole mess of other stuff too.
