Sounds Like
The smell of bacon cooking, but y'know, as a sound.
Most people put a band together, work on their songs, then record an album. Which is a logical progression, but sometimes ass-backwards is the way things are meant to happen.
GOLD ON THE MAP is the album. I played everything on it. The rules I set for myself were simple: every day I showed up to Olive Juice Studios without a song written, and yet, had to leave that day with a song completely tracked, including a vocal melody (lyrics to be written later). Improv indie rock sounds like a potential disaster, I recognize that. For me, however, it resulted in some of the strongest songs on the record. I filled out the album with some old unreleased Heroes of the Alamo material, which I decided to record when I found out my wife was pregnant. I wanted to get them down if it would be years before I'd have the disposable income to get back in the studio.
I knew the songs would improve on a stage, so I got my band, The Clamour, together. That's about it. Oh, I'm a Pisces.
