Michael was one of the original members in The Flower Kings. Between 1995-2000 he was playing the bass and singing backing vocals. He did several tours with the band in Japan, Europe, USA and South-America. Michael was also the singer in the band "Desperados". They had number 1 hits in Sweden and became fast one of Swedens most popluar bands. Rox ? Yeah!
Jocke JJ Marsh
electric & acoustic guitars, backing vocals
He has been playing with Glenn Hughes for the last 10 years. We all know JJ is brilliant guitar player/singer but he is also a very good composer. JJ is now playing gigs with his band Planet Marsh.
Marcus Liliequist
drums, percussion, electronic perc
Marcus is one of Swedens most hired session/gig drummers. He was also part of The Flower Kings for a couple of years. Such a great guy, such a brilliant drummer! Besides, he makes me laugh all the time:) Bast!
I´m influenced by a lot of music. Of course rock has always been a part of my life. Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple,Pink Floyd, Muse ( they are so good!), Foghat, Steppenwolf, Budgie, The Band, Grand Funk Railroad, Nazareth, Uriah Heep, Queen.....
Then we have the pop/poprock like Beatles, David Bowie, Crosby, Still, Nash & Young, Talking Heads, Fleetwood Mac, JJ Cale, Lou Reed, XTC, Stranglers, U2, Red Noise...
The Flower Kings
Also some of the fusion/jazzfusion like George Duke, Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock, Jan Garbarek, Pat Metheny
Now we are pretty close to jazz... I´m not a jazz player but I enjoy some musicians like Putte Wickman, Roger Kellaway, Toots Thielmans
At the age of 14 I started to collect classical LPs. First I went thru Beethoven, Motzart, Bach and the more usual stuff. But after a while I fell more and more in love with composers like Schostachovic, Prokofiev, Stravinskji.
Hasse Fröberg
And talking about some pure synth music...Jean-Michel Jarre (then I talk about Oxygen), Wendy Carlos, Vangelis and here I would to mention Philip Glass (even if it´s not synth music!)
Among the modern progbands I would say that Porcupine Tree is one of the best! I also like Kino very much!
Hasse again...
Thinking about keyboardists I would say Patric Moraz, Mr Jobson, Keith Emerson, Joe Zawinul, Rick Wakeman and Tony Banks. Also one name I would like to mention is Tom Brislin. He´s a very, very skilled player and also such a nice guy!.
This is a lot of talk about music... There is a lot of things apart from music that inspires me. Books, food (I´m a decent chef:), my family of course, travells, running...I´ll try to keep the pace this year!
I am perhaps best known as the keybord player in the progressive /symphonic rock band "The Flower Kings". But since 1996 I have also released 6 solo albums.
First out was "AN ORDINARY NIGHT IN MY ORDINARY LIFE" (1999). I was really suprised by the good respons.. The album was produced by Roine Stolt and also released on his own label "Foxtrot Music". The lineup was...
Jaime Salazar Drums
Michael Stolt Bass
Ove Eriksson Bass
Roine Stolt Guitars
Hasse Bruniusson Perc, Drums & Bicycle wheel!
From there there I spent a lot of time working with several Flower Kings albums. Also I did work a lot at different theathers such as The Royal National Theather of Drama (Dramaten), Riksteatern, Upsala Stadsteater. I also took part in a couple of movies...(no major Hollywood release with Julia Roberts...I guess I have to watch Nothing Hill one more time )
At 2002 I decided to make my 2nd album "PINUP GURU"... I wanted it to sound a little bit like ELP so I kept in within a trio format. Keyz, Drms and Bass. The lineup...
Jonas Reingoldt Bass
and the eminent drummer Zoltan Csörsz
One year later SONIC BOULEVARD saw the daylight. At first, Roine Stolt and I decided to record a sort of ambient project. I came up with the name Sonic Boulevard. However for different reasons we didnt finish this idea. Instead I made this semi-ambient/progressive album on my own. Its a lot of afro-influences and one theme is working as an idé fix
Jocke JJ Marsh Guitar (a lot of Jeff Beck influences!)
Jonas Reingoldt Bass
Zoltan Csörsz Drums
Anders Jansson Voices
Lars Bjurhäll FX Voice
Roine Stolt Guitar
Hasse Bruisusson perc
Ulf Wallander Saxophone
Jonas Knutsson Soprano Saxophone
Next project was something really odd! I invented a fake band and I called it THE SWEDISH FAMILY. Then I released the album Vintage Prog-The best of Swedish Family. Hmmm this was quite fun..some people actully believed in the story. A journalist also claimed he saw that band back in the 70.ies. Great fun!! The music was very much in the tradtion of Swedish folkrock.
I have made a special Swedish Family myspace site at
www.myspace.com/theswedishfamily
The line Vintage Prog-The Beat Of
;
Roine Stolt Guitars & Basses
Ulf Wallander soprano saxophone
Hasse Bruinusson Drums & Perc
2 years later I decided to release a full production record. This time I wanted to make a bigger production with vocals, lyrics, concept...yeah why not make a rockopera!!!??? The concept idea included 3 albums. First out, I AM was me looking at myself in a sort of biographical way. YOU ARE (release spring 2009) is going to be me looking at You. I (go ahead read the lyrics at the blogs)HE SHE IT IS will be a story about love from different angels. Jealousy, Homosexuality, Wife beaters and more..... The lineup for I AM was;
Marcus Liliequist Drums (The Cow is Marcus Dearest pet!)
Jonas Reingoldt Bass
Jocke JJ Marsh Guitars
Anders Jansson Vocals
Helene Schönning Vocals
Pernilla Bodin Vocals
Next album was"Cinematograaph" (2008). I did release it on my own label "Helikon House". This album is 100% keyboard and keyboard only. I wanted the music to be suitable for movies. So prepare yourself for some heavy Dreamscapes.
Moondiver
Then ofc there is always different side-projects. I have been working as a producer for different groups/artists. Moonsafari and the album "Doorway to Summer"was recived very well among the progfans.
Last year I produced Lenehs album "Här" (Swedish Lyrics) and together with Jonas Reingold also the Dutch group Moondiver. Leneh is played on Swedish National radio every day.
