Born in 1979 in Zurich, Swiss-Spanish composer/improviser Tomas Korber received a musical basic training (theory/clarinet) and guitar lessons, which he quitted after a couple of years. Self-taught schooling in electric-guitar, electronic devices and the use of the computer for musical purposes followed shortly after.
Korber has written compositions and played improvised music since the early 90ties. He has worked solo and collaborated with the likes of Günter Müller, Norbert Möslang, Otomo Yoshihide, Mark Wastell, Lê Quan Ninh, Toshimaru Nakamura, Mattin, Stephan Wittwer, Jason Kahn, Greg Davis, Taku Unami, Thomas Ankersmit, Kai Fagaschinski, Dimitri de Perrot, Dieb13, Adam Sonderberg, Butch Morris, Tetuzi Akiyama, David Daniell, Hans Koch, Sachiko M, Sean Meehan, Christian Weber, Keith Rowe, Christian Wolfarth, Kazuya Ishigami, Yamamoto Seiichi, Lionel Marchetti, Bernd Schurer, Graham Halliwell, Andrea Parkins, ErikM, Steinbrüchel and many others.
He also composes music for theater- and film-productions (i.e. under the direction of Franz Dängeli, Kaspar Kasics, Stefan Haupt, Fredi Murer, Martin Moll and others).
Tomas Korber has performed extensively across Europe, Japan and North America.
Thank you so much for add. In Feb. 2008, I visited Switzerland and have a private session with Christian Weber in his studio. Although when I can revisit Switzerland at this moment, I am seeking a chance to revisit Switzerland. If I could visit the country next time, I would like to play with you.
