Who the hell is the ‘Hashman,’ No I never was some tree-hugging pothead (nor do I even drink anymore - sober for...I lost count, which is a good thing), But let’s see - one time Sony Music employee (that's pre-BMG merger/era folks), former record store clerk (couldn’t tell you the last time I was actually in a “brick and mortar” store), Cincinnati, Knoxville, Murfreesboro, & Nashville Native (Fuck it! it's Hashville!) I’ve lived everywhere up & down the Tennessee & Ohio valleys, current PR/Media Planner, Medical Industry enthusiast (yes, that was medical), Music Critic/Journalist (Metal Fucking Rulez!!!), Belmont University dropout (only to immediately re-enroll at MTSU and graduate (w/3.2 GPA, I guess that's decent: one of the best choices I made over the years was transferring), Vinyl LP collector, Guitarist (although I haven’t picked any of mine up in…now ask me when the last time I turned any of my equipment on was).
And once upon a time a Book Editor, Publicist & Webmaster….
About my Writing –
I got my start for two notable webzines in back in 2003 (right after college graduation - finally entering the 'real world,' how fun!), MondoGordo.com (A site owned by renown journalist/critic, the Rev. Keith Gordon), where I was also Webmaster and Co-editor between 2006 and 2007 (until it dissolved into www.thatdevilmusic.com - the title is a reference to the way people saw 'delta blues' music back in the day) and RevelationZ.net, known as your Heavy Metal and Hard Rock Resource (was a staff writer until early 2006). Joining the staff of Ytsejam.com (known as your 'progressive rock one-stop') in 2005, I have been bringing a large scope of heavy metal & hard rock to the site ever since; even finding time to co-edit two print books, the Alt.Culture.Guide V.2 & V.3 which between the two features exclusive interviews with Steven Wilson, Blackie Lawless, Steve Hackett, Timo Kotipelto, Jag Panzer, Kurdt Vanderhoof, & Alex Scholnick among others. The Hashman also spent a brief period at Cincinnati’s Only Local Music Magazine (yes, "Only Local Music" was the rag’s actual title).
I also write the occasional article for other numerous print publications.
Thanks for joining the band-site. How you doing? Getting geared-up for summer? Just thought to let you know theres new tracks on the site. Sounding much better than the last with Trent's help. These are the Originals I'm working on now. Let me know what you think. Please feel free to leave a comment in the blog regarding feedback. I appreciate all comments. Recording is going we'll, should be done very soon. 'Timeless' (Box set) is already completed. Stay in touch... Nikko
You can preorder the new CD Deathanity as of today.
Deathanity is the latest effort from Odin’s Court, a Maryland, USA band. Deathanity is an ambitious concept album dealing with the effects mankind’s actions are having on the planet. Alternate views are offered through the use of instrumentation, lyrics, sound effects, and various vocal clips. Ambience, dynamics, and soul are combined with complexity, groove, and energy in a song oriented structure, to create a unique, surreal landscape. Each song, dealing with a different theme, is accompanied by a newly created word and definition in the album art. Special guest vocalists include Tom Englund (Evergrey) and Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica).
We saw Will Hoge at Spaceland last night..They rocked so hard! You need to do a story on them...they put on a hell of a show..even for Pretentious LA fucks.
