"Tom Cary, para mí la mejor banda del festival con permiso de Fito Páez, ofrecieron una actuación intensa que no se acomplejó ante los prejuicios de un público que apenas tenía noticia de ellos. Explosivos y esquivos (nadie supo cómo catalogarlos), parecían unos Einstürzende Neubauten interpretando el repertorio de Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. O unos Skinny Puppy recreando las excentricidades de The Contortions. O como los Big Black más industriales. O, como decía el boletín de Rock Al Parque, “como los Stooges pasados por el laptop de Ryoji Ikeda”. Pero aunque podríamos seguir indefinidamente citando nombres en un intento inútil por tratar de referenciarlos, ellos son únicos. [...] rock con actitud punk, guitarras de vocación ruidista en la tradición de Arto Lindsay, composiciones que recogen la tradición del rock más sucio y sexual, percusiones de sabor free y mucho, mucho ruido. [...] Mención aparte merece la postrera performance del vocalista / baterista Garrido quien, en un arrebato de furia y exceso, termina en una rendición que uno creería exclusiva de Jon Spencer. Ignífugo, incombustible y demente, Pablo Garrido termina por bajarse del escenario, sudoroso, con la camisa abierta mostrando sin prejuicios un abdomen prominente y gritando y golpeando incesantemente los platos de su batería, saltándose las barreras de seguridad de la zona de prensa, las de la zona VIP y llegando hasta donde los espectadores, atónitos, eran testigos de una liberación catártica como no se ha visto jamás (quizá exagero) en Rock Al Parque. Mientras tanto, Javi Muñoz trataba de reponerse del shock que minutos antes había dado con él en el suelo, bajo en mano, convulsionando como poseso; y Fran Verdugo, con su guitarra tendida en el suelo, daba lecciones sobre “cómo exorcizar una guitarra”. Puro poder eléctrico; puro exceso; puro rock n' roll (porque sí, así es como debería ser, y casi nunca es, el rock n' roll en el año 2009). Deslumbrantes. Después de ellos, no volvió a crecer la hierba en el Escenario Lago."
"Tom Cary, in my opinion, the best band of the festival – if Fito Páez excuses me- offered an intense show which did not feel intimidated at all before the prejudice of an audience who hardly knew about them. Explosive and elusive (nobody knew how to class them), they looked like a kind of Einstürzende Neubauten playing John Spencer Blues Explosion's repertoire or Skinny Puppy recreating the eccentricities of The Contortions. Or even the most industrial Big Black. As the news bulletin from Rock al Parque said “they sound like the Stooges through the laptop of Ryoji Ikeda. We could go on giving names indefinitely trying to class them, but unsuccessfully, they're unique. [...] rock with punk attitude, noisy guitars in the style of Arto Lindsay, compositions which collect the tradition of the most dirty and sexual rock, free jazz percussions and noise a plenty. [...] The last performance of the vocalist/drummer Pablo Garrido deserves a special mention: in a powerful ecstasy he finishes the show in a way I thought just John Spencer could. Tireless and out of mind, Pablo Garrido ends up getting of the stage, sweaty, with her shirt open showing his prominent tummy without embarrassment, shouting and banging endlessly the cymbals of his drums, jumping over the security barriers in the press area, the VIP area, getting to the audience, astonished, witnessing an energy display never seen in Rock al Parque. At the same time Javi Muñoz tries to come back from the shock with his bass on the floor like mad and Fran Verdugo gives lessons with his guitar about “how to exorcise a guitar”. Pure electric power, pure excess, pure rock n' roll, that's it. (This is as it should be, and almost never is, rock n' roll in 2009). Astonishing, After them,the grass did not grow again in the Stage "Lago"."

Tom Cary son un buen ejemplo de autogestion, determinacion y talento en los tiempos que corren. Se formaron en Málaga a finales del 2005 por Pablo Garrido, Fran Verdugo y Javier Muñoz. Con su primera demo ganaron los concursos de bandas más prestigiosos en España como el Proyecto Demo 2006 -organizado por RN3, la cadena MTV y el Festival de Benicàssim (FIB), Lagarto rock, Villa de Madrid, Málaga Crea Rock y semifinales del Bilborock. A principios del 2007 Steve Albini se interesó por ellos y aceptó producir su primer álbum en sus estudios Electrical Audio de Chicago. Dieron así forma al álbum "That's right! Clean your soul" (Anewlabel / Pias Spain). Grabado durante la última semana del mes de julio, íntegramente en directo, sus canciones son una muestra del sonido de la banda en estado puro, sin aderezos. Tanto como Tom Cary como con Naïfloop, (el proyecto en solitario de Pablo Garrido) forman parte del colectivo de música, videocreación y netlabel MIGA (www.miga-label.org), con el que han desarrollado un peculiar acercamiento a la electrónica. Un blues punk triturado por la batidora del ruido digital. Algo así como los Stooges pasados por el laptop de Ryoji Ikeda. Han girado durante estos años por España y el resto de Europa (FIB Benicassim, conciertos de la 2 de TVE, Bienal Europea de Bari en Italia) y a finales de 2008 estuvieron de gira por todo el territorio nacional con motivo del premio Circuito Pop Rock Junta de Andalucía.
En el mes de febrero realizaron una pequeña gira por Ecuador, invitados por el Festival FFF de Ambato, y un mes después participaron también en el prestigioso festival “South By Southwest” (SXSW) en Austin, Texas, siendo incluidos en la lista de shows recomendados por la publicación oficial del festival. Obtuvieron un exito unanime de publico y critica en el festival mas importante de America Latina Rock al parque 2009( Bogota Colombia) y en el Festival nuevas bandas de Caracas (Venezuela). Han sido destacados por medios nacionales e internacionales y han compartido cartel con artistas como Tom Verlaine o Ryoji Ikeda. A finales del 2009 se editará su segundo disco.

The Spanish band Tom Cary is a good example of self-management, determination and talent these days. They formed in Málaga at the end of 2005 by Pablo Garrido, Fran Verdugo and Javier Muñoz. Just with their first demo out they won the most prestigious musical contests in Spain, such as “Proyecto Demo 2006” – run by RN3 (Spanish National Radio) together with MTV channel and Benicàssim Music Festival (FIB). At the beginning of 2007 Steve Albini became interested in the band and he accepted to carry out the production of their first album at his “Electrical Audio Studios” in Chicago. This is how they shaped “That's right! Clean your soul” (Anewlabel/Pias Spain). Recorded live during the last week of July 2007, their songs are a good sample of the sound of the band in its pure state. Both Tom Cary and Naïfloop (Pablo Garrido's solo project) belong to the music collective, video creation and netlabel MIGA (www.miga-label.org), thanks to whom they developed a curious rapprochement into electronics. It is blues-punk-garage music blended with digital noise. Somebody said they looked like the Stooges through Ryoji Ikeda's laptop. They've been touring during the whole year around Spain and Europe (Fib 2006, “Biennale Europea” in Italy) and, at the end of 2008, they also did a small tour nationwide thanks to the prize “Circuito Pop-rock” sponsored by the region of Andalusia.
In February, they went on tour through Ecuador, invited by FFF Festival from Ambato. A month after that, they took part in the prestigious festival “South by Southwest” (SXSW) in Austin (Texas), being included in the selection of daily shows recommended by the official festival journal. They got a resounding success in the most important music festval in South America Rock a la parque 2009 ( Bogota, Colombia) also They took part in Festival nuevas bandas (Caracas Venezuela) Their work has also been remarked by Spanish and some international musical media and they have played in same festivals as renowned artists such as Tom Verlaine or Ryoji Ikeda. At 2009 they will release their second album as they try to find managing and distribution.

Tom Cary ist ein gutes Beispiel für Selbstverwaltung, Beschluss und Talent heutzutage. Es wurde begründet von Pablo Garrido, Fran Verdugo und Javier Muñoz Ende 2005 in Málaga. Mit ihrer ersten Demo gewannen sie die angesehenesten Band-Wettbewerbe in Spanien, wie Proyecto Demo 2006 -organisiert von dem nationalen Radiosender (RN3), dem Fernsehsender (MTV) und den Musikfestival von Benicàssim (FIB)-, Lagarto rock, Villa de Madrid, Málaga Crea Rock und erreichten das Halbfinale des Bilborocks. Anfang 2007 war Steve Albini an ihnen interessiert und nahm es an, zur Produktion ihres erste Albums in seinen Aufnahmestudio Electrical Audio (Chicago). So gestalteten sie "That's right! Clean your soul" (Anewlabel / Pias Spain). Auf diese Weise wurde es in der letzten Juli Woche ganz und gar live aufgenommen. Seine Songs sind ein vollständiges Muster ohne Zusatzstoffe des Sound der Band. Le groupe espagnol Tom Cary est un bon exemple actuel d´autogestion, détermination et talent. Il s´est formé à la fin du 2005 avec Pablo Garrido, Fran Verdugo et Javier Muñoz . Avec leur première démo, ils ont obtenu le 1er prix aux concours nationaux les plus prestigieux d´Espagne, comme le «Proyecto Demo 2006» –organisé par RN3 (Radio Nationale d´Espagne), la chaîne MTV et le Festival de Benicàssim (FIB)-. Au début du 2007, Steve Albini s´est intéressé au groupe et a accepté de produire son premier album dans ses studios «Electrical Audio», à Chicago. Ainsi ont-ils créé «That s right ! Clean your soul» (Anewlabel/Pias Spain). Enregistrées en direct pendant la dernière semaine de juillet, les huit chansons qui forment le travail représentent le son de Tom Cary en état pur. Aussi appartient-ils –comme Tom Cary ou Naïfloop, le projet personnel de Pablo Garrido- au collective et netlabel de musique et vidéo création MIGA (www.miga-label.org), grâce auquel ils ont développé un particulier rapprochement à l´éléctronique. C´est comme un mélange de blues-punk-garage et bruit digital (quelqu´un a dit qu´ils ressemblaient à «The Stooges» à travers le portable de Ryoji Ikeda). Ils ont été en tournée en Espagne et l´Europe pendant tous ces ans (FIB 2006 et la «Biennale des Jeunes Créateurs d'Europe et de la Méditerranée» –laquelle a eu lieu à Bari, Italie-) et, à la fin du 2008, ils ont aussi fait un petit tour à travers Espagne grâce au prix «Circuito Pop-Rock», sponsorisé par le gouvernement Andalou.

Srs Tom Cary, los vi en vivo en Venezuela hace mas de un mes y me dejaron loco con la energia y lo duro que suenan, desde ese momento he estado en la busqueda de su album, pero en fisico aqui es imposible y de manera digital no lo he podido conseguir en ninguna pagina, ni en itunes, ni en otras tiendas digitales, si me podrian informar de alguna manera de conseguir su album se lo agradeceria.
