Tri-plex is a Reggae/Hip-Hop band that has been gracing the stages of the Bay Area for over 10 years. Accompanied by a 5-piece band, Tri-Plex consists of 4 talented vocalists and founding members of the group: YahYah Dread (Roots Reggae) Jahdid (Gospel/Hip-Hop), Saikodelic (Dancehall/Hip-Hop) and Black Aztec (Hip-Hop). This range of vocals is supported by a world class band that includes a full horn section. Black Aztec, fluent in Spanish, reaches out to the Latino crowd with his arsenal of hard lyrics in both Spanish and English. Jahdid’s smooth R&B sound and Saikodelic’s Dancehall vibe calls out to all Rasta fans. Tri-Plex’s style is an energetic Reggae roots sound that incorporates Spanish Cumbias, Salsa and Reggaeton rhythms. Their message is of peace, love, hope and unity among cultures is the foundation of their lyrics.
The founding members of Tri-plex have been recording albums since 1999. Their second release Rhyme and Reason sold over 15000 copies. Tri-Plex without a doubt puts all their energy into their live performances. Tri-Plex has been honored to have shared stages with such great Reggae acts as Steel Pulse, Eek A Mouse, Michael Franti and Fabulous Hip-Hop/R&B acts as Ice Cube, The Roots, En Vogue and Run-DMC. The band has been featured at the Monterey Reggae Festival in past years that hosted such bands as Maxi Priest, Junior Reid, Kymani Marley, Israel Vibrations and The Mighty Diamonds. Tri-Plex has played with the best and has ignited the masses with their larger than life performances.
Tri-Plex is hitting the streets hard in 2009 hoping to play venues throughout California and abroad. The band has expanded their sound with a horn section and has recently added Cumbia, Salsa and Reggaeton rhythms to their repertoire. A live Tri-Plex performance is the place to be on that night and the response to the past shows has been remarkable, always leaving the audience wanting more. The band is structured to be a great addition to a wide variety of venues lineups. Tri-Plex is looking for opportunities to show their talent and spread their message in not just Reggae or World Music settings but in Jazz, Latin and Hip-Hop settings as well. Professionalism is the band’s highest of priority, and we take no opportunity for granted. We are always prepared and can even provide our own sound equipment (if needed).
