Hosted by Matt Nelson, Troika is presented by the Philly Improv Theater and produced by PhillyImprov.com.
Troika is back for another year of three-way improv throwdowns. We've done a little modification to the format this year, so let's get you up to speed... We'll still have three sets of three improvisers come to the stage with a format of their own choosing or creation and let audience decide who is left standing. However, we will be scaling down to a single season. So the winners of Rounds One, Two & Three will then move on immediately to the Grand Championship.
We'll also be switching up the submission rules as well. In addition to submitting your name for team drawings, you can submit an entire three-person team as well! Please note that all team entries must be original - we will not accept submissions from existing groups or former Troika teams. To allow for more scheduling flexibility, we will allow two members from a single group on a team, but at least one person must not be performing actively with the other two members.
TROIKA HISTORY
Each month in 2007, nine improvisers were drawn at random and grouped in to
teams of three. These three teams had only a few weeks get to
know one another, name their group and practice a format. They then came together and threw down their best improv stylings on stage.
At the end of the shows, the audience decided which group got to
continue on to the season finals.
