T&M supported Zion Train for the Future Sound Of Exeter sell out Xmas Party 2008 and here is the quote from that
"I booked Trouble & Mischief as one of the acts for the sold-out Future Sound of Exeter Christmas Party and they went down a storm. They got the crowd going a treat and audience feedback was superb." Paul Giblin FSOE.
In 2007 Ali Luia
of Sunfish and Tor Rubble of Sunfish and formerly of The Toretz formed 'Trouble and Mischief’ - A force to be reckoned with.
Together they have used politics, observational comedy and performance poetry and mixed it up with punk, dub, swing, jazz n bass beats, they explore the many different relationships between men and women, like a modern day Bonnie and Clyde they are putting the world to rights.
Tor Rubble self described or should it be prescribed as 'Ian Dury meets Sid James in the Dance World' has been writing poetry and music for many years; he founded critically acclaimed ‘The Toretz’ , writing, arranging and producing most of their tunes and lyrics. One of their best achievements was to share the stage with The Blockheads who described the Toretz like this - “We loved your show. You guys are without doubt the most suitable band we have been matched with over the last 5 years... We should find a way of doing it again.” (Lee Harris, Manager - The Blockheads.) With The Toretz no more Tor has now turned his attention to the electronic world, singing for Psy Trance outfit ‘Sunfish', and is now writing arranging and producing the music and some of the words for ‘Trouble & Mischief’ you can hear many different influences in his tunes.
Ali Luia, fantastic lyricist and lead singer of ‘Sunfish’ who recently headlined the Bearded Theory Festival Dance Tent receiving this review -' Sunfish - my favourite performance of the weekend!!' (Phill Mellersh, Events Manager). Ali has been singing in dance acts across the south west for many years and has added that female perspective to Trouble & Mischief’s cartoon world.
In their various other projects they have performed at many nights across the south west and shared the stage with fantastic acts such as The Blockheads, Eat Static, Asian Dub Foundation, Orbital, The Subhumans, Astralisia, LTJ Bukem, Banco De Gia, System 7, Bad Manners, Los Albertos, Planet Smashers, Here & Now, Nik Turner, Zetan Spore, and many more and have performed at Sunrise Celebrations, Waveform, Glastonbury, Big Green Gathering, Endorse-It, Bearded Theory, Air Fusion, Beautifual Days, Thames, Ode, Fordstock, Ogfest and Vibraphonic festivals.
In 2009 they have been joined by live sax & percussion drums
Adding his own flavour of jazz dub sax, mixed with a cocktail of fun, Gypsy Dave, previously played sax with 'The Alman Mulo Band' featuring Harvey Bainbridge (Ex Hawkwind) appearing on Diamonds and Toads (CD) and played The Marquee Club, Porthcawl Festival, and Glastonbury Festival.
With Dave The Wave and Matt on percussion drums, Trouble & Mischief are ready to take the world by storm
Their début performance received the following review from the 'Bit on the Side' -Paignton for 'Word Command' and here is a quote from event organiser Bryce Dumont -
"Trouble & Mischief have merged the best of the worlds of electronic music and poetry to bring a musical and theatrical treat that's a little something for everyone. Suited to both intimate settings and festival dance tents, these guys give a performance that's intense and intelligent and hard for anyone to ignore. Tor and Ali have created something special that is not to be missed."
They were booked to perform on two stages at Sunrise Festival 08 but alas rain stopped play, the festival was cancelled
They did get to performed at the Waveform Festival 08 and here is the quote
'Words to Make You Listen, Beats To Make You Dance'- Paul Capel, Cats Cradle Stage, Waveform Festival 2008
