HISTORY
1980: During its humble inceptions, rap music initially appeared as a means of personal expression in the inner city. Utilizing what little they had, hip-hop's earliest pioneers blended classic beats with imaginative vocal techniques, creating a makeshift newscast for and about the streets they came from. Over time, as hip-hop wafted beyond the concrete confines of its birth. people from all walks of life had no choice but to stop what they were doing, listen up, and nod their head.
1990s: rap music becomes a certified commodity, earning a lion's share of the music industy's overall sales. During this time period, 70% of the rap records being sold were purchased by white suburban Teens. The immediate question was why? How? What made Suburbia relate?
2008: rap music as we know it has been done from every conceivable angle, killed, exhumed, then killed again...every angle that is, except for one.
BIO
Hailing from a loving two parent household in a well-to-do section of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (hometown of hair-metal gods Poison) comes Troy Walsh. The son of an English teacher, Troy knew the way of the word long before he knew what bars and hooks were. As fate would have it, hip-hop found its way into Suburban America's consciousness and chose young Walsh as its future.
Now, we proudly present Hip Hop's Final frontier, the only stone left unturned, music from the burbs, for the world... the name destined to become the final word in middle class american hip-hop: Troy Walsh.

LIVE SHOW
Not unlike the live show of fellow Pennsylvanian Hip-Hoppers The Roots, a Troy Walsh performance includes much more than just a mic and a beat. His backing band, The Weekend Warriors, employs the full gamut of live instrumentation: live drums, synthesizer, bass and Electric guitar to color the experience.
Besides drawing from a deep catalog of instantaneously familiar originals, a Walsh and the Warriors show stands to include some danceable 80s covers, maybe a heavy 90s modern rock cover, as well as a Few crowd favorite classic hip hop covers.
Past live performances include appearances at the Webster Theatre (CT), Franklin and Marshall College (PA), Penn State University (PA), The Knitting Factory (NYC), S.O.B's (NYC), The Staircase (Pittston, PA), Smalls (Harrisburg, PA), Gullifty's (Harrisburg, PA), The Grape Street Pub (Manayunk, PA), The Abilene on South Street (Phila, PA), and Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City NJ (101.3 FM fund raiser).
