THE TWILITE TONE
The Twilite Tone, also known as Ynot, has been electrifying audiences since the early nineties. From his work as artist/producer of Common’s first three albums to being credited as the pioneer DJ that introduced Hip Hop and a wide variety of music to the Chicago dance floor that was dominated solely by House, Techno, and Disco classics. Twilite and crew, Dem Dare [The Darians] built a loyal following by showing Chicago how to dance, talk, and dress the part without imitating the coasts.
Tone appeared and produced Common’s “Soul By The Pound” B-Side single entitled “Can I Bus” as well as the classic album “Ressurection” where he was featured on the critically acclaimed “Chapter 13”[Richman vs. Poorman] and the first Stepper/Hip Hop song, “Reminding Me Of Sef” on the album entitled “One Day It’ll All Make Sense”. He has toured the world as the featured DJ/host of Common’s Electric Circus Tour.
Mark Ronson handpicked The Twilite Tone as the tour DJ for his protégé Rhymefest, writer of Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks”. Tone produced the music for Jay-Z’s “S. Carter” Reebok/EA/Def Jam TV commercial and was a featured DJ for Jay-Z’s 5x Platinum Party.
He was the featured DJ for the KOOL Concert Series featuring Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu, as well as the George Clinton VIP Party, Prince VIP Party, P. Diddy’s VIP Party, Common and Erykah Badu’s Grammy Party, and Jermaine Dupri’s Birthday Celebration. He was the premier DJ for the MTV World VMA after party at the Supper Club in Rome, Italy. He has appeared on BET’s Rap City, MTV’s Wild’NOut with Kanye West, Nick Cannon, and Rhymefest. Twilite has been the DJ of choice for various niche marketing campaigns for brands such as Lexus, Scion, Toyota, Puma, Adidas, Nike, Fader Magazine, Complex Magazine, Frank 151, Vibe Magazine, Triple 5 Soul and a host of others.
The Twilite Tone production credits include The Root’s Rahzel single, “Bubblin’ Bubblin”, Andreas “Hey Young World” remix featured on the Puma 5x12 compilation, his group Great Weekend “Awesome” featured on the 2004 Hennessey Cognac “Urban Sounds” compilation, and Great Weekend “How Do You Feel” single released on BBE 2005 compilation “Real Music For Real People”. He was selected to mix the Fader Magazine compilation “Suite 903” 8 where he showcased Great Weekend’s “Something So Right”. Also, Twilite was featured on the 2006 Puma 5x12 where produced the Great Weekend smash “SuperStar”.
The work of The Twilite Tone keeps moving forward. Stay tuned.
