In march of 2006, the project known as Unbeing kicks off. At the time it was supposed to be called Torment, and be a black/death metal band. The band first began with Mike and Sherif (bass and guitar respectively) and soon grew to find its way to Alex Murdock as the first vocalist. All 3 band members were from laval. Alex was the one who came up with all the possible names for the band, apart from Sherif who had come up with names that were just in bad taste. Once the band found out that the name "Torment" was already taken, the name "Eternum" was proposed and approved. The same week, the same knowledge arised that a band already existed with the name "Eternum". So finally, everyone settled for "Unbeing", which was not taken yet by any signed band or musician.
The first song to ever be recorded was "Judgement". It was recorded later in 2006 using a standart computer microphone in front of a 100 watt amp. The drums were programmed and will remain programmed until the end of 2009.
After seeing how the result was better than shitty with the basic tools that were available at that time, Unbeing recorded "Through the Fall", "To The Grave", "Revolt" and "Broken" with the same means.
Eventually Unbeing found themself having to do a show to get some experience. Being only 3 to play music that was ment for a 5 piece band was problematic. A few weeks before the first Show of the formation, 2 vonlunteer musicians surfaced, having submitted a video of themselves playing the song "Judgement". These musicians were Etienne and Pascal (guitar and drums respectively).
During the time they were in the band, Etienne and Sherif developped new skills for recording their newer songs, "To The Grave", "Revolt", "Broken" (re-recorded), "Remember the Fight" and "Warmonger".
After playing the first 2 shows, which were part of the Emergenza series, with Unbeing, Pascal leaves the band.
Being in need of a drummer urgently and 2 weeks from another Emergenza show (Club Soda), Sherif and Michael were approached to meet a drummer in Ste-Therese.
Once Pascal left, Unbeing had to find someone to replace him, this is when J-P made his first appearence and auditioned for the position of permanent drummer. His style of play and ability with the double pedal was unrivaled and it still is to this day.
After the Club Soda show, Etienne had to choose to focus on his studies in university, as this was his primary concern more than anything. So having left Unbeing in good terms, the band was once again looking for a decent guitar player.
A guy named Guillaume came and proposed his help as a lead guitarist for Unbeing. With his and J-P's help, Unbeing reached new levels of complexity, structure and discipline. The songs that emerged from this lineup (J-P, Guillaume, Mike, Alex and Sherif) were "Failure of Man", "Buried in Disgrace" and "Holy Shot"
Eventually, Mike decided to leave the band to be able to focus on more relevant things in his life such as school, his girlfriend, etc.
Within a week after the departure of michael, Chris Furci proposed to be the permanent bassist. He was the one who recorded the bass track on the song "Blessed be thy Name". The songs that emerged from this lineup are "Blessed be thy Name" and "Clusterfuck". After doing a few shows, being on a good streak, something had to happen. Due to family related reasons, Chris was forced to quit his position as the bassist of the band.
Left with no other alternative, Alex, who was the at-the-time vocalist, grabbed the bass. His creavity was finally put to good use on an instrument which always felt like his.
Shortly after Alex grabbed the bass, Unbeing was looking for a decent keyboard player. And they found it in Martin. Being an outstanding writer and a legitimate artist, Martin made himself a key element in the band's music. The songs that emerged from this lineup (Alex, Sherif, Guillaume, Martin and JP) are "Desert Clusterfuck" and "Chuck Norris".
Unfortunatly unable to play the first show of the lineup for personnal reasons, Martin had to skip the last show of the formation and Unbeing proceeded to do a show as a 4-piece band.
After playing their last show as a 4-piece band (Alex, Sherif, Guillaume and JP), Guillaume left the band to dry, the main reason being the level of difficulty he had trouble with and the fact that he didn't enjoy making music when working with Sherif.
Not very long after Guillaume, the band was introduced to Anthony Grieco. His motivation and thirst for more difficult and technical music was unrivaled, and still is. He proved more than once to be the man for the job.
This chapter of the band is marked by the following lineup of musicians:
Alex - Bass
Sherif - Guitar
Grieco - Guitar
J-P - Percussions
Martin - Keyboard
As for the vocal part of the music, Catherine was proposed as the female voice, and the band is still looking for someone to fill up the male vocalist position.
