About The Firstborn

THE FIRSTBORN Biography 1995 – Band formed; recorded the very first song in December for a participation in the “Southern Assault vol. 1” sampler CD (Guardians of Metal 1996 / as “Firstborn Evil”). 1996 – A 4 song demo-tape called “Awakening of Evil” was recorded (Sword Prod. 1997 / as “Firstborn Evil”). 1997 – Another song recorded for the “Sometimes... Death is Better” sampler CD (Shiver Rec. 1997 / as “Firstborn Evil”). 1998 – Debut album “Rebirth of Evil” recorded, originally intended as a re-release of the 1996 demo-tape. Eventually 8 songs were recorded and the album took form (Guardians of Metal 1998 / as “Firstborn Evil”). 2000 – Name shortened to “The Firstborn”, sophomore release “... From the Past Yet to Come” released (Guardians of Metal 2000). 2002 – Song recorded for a Tarantula tribute “20 Anos de Tarantula” sampler CD (Recital 2002). 2005 – After 4 years in the writing, the concept-album “The Unclenching of Fists” is finally recorded. Based on the Tibetan “Book of the Dead”, it represents a dramatic shift in both style and content for the band (ProCon Media 2005). 2008 – Further exploring the Buddhist philosophy as a foundation for both lyrics and sound, the band travels to Foel Studio in Wales to record “The Noble Search”. This album, based on the Buddhist Scriptures, represents further experiments in the direction first explored in 2005’s “The Unclenching of Fists” (Major Label Industries 2008).

BALEYYG	Jun 9 2009 9:54 PM DARKESTINFERNALHAILS ~ you are right on the touring, it's hard on the wallet for sure. i was at Inferno Fest in Oslo in 2008 and they had an open discussion there regarding touring in the USA! it was great... but i was shocked to hear them say that the USA is the most lucrative market for touring. i thought it would latin america, since they love their Metal in a serious way there. i'm always optimistic about BALEYYG material and how it will be recieved. the earlier material was very well received. right now i'm working with a pro film-maker on a few BALEYYG projects, and more recording, and ov corpse, writing the new material. you will probably see BALEYYG shows over there only when there is enough interest to make it worthwhile, i can see a few one-off festival appearances perhaps. but you are right about how everything is collapsing. my view is that i think there are way too many shitty death metal bands out there, but the good side is that since there are so many shitty ones, being a good one is that much easier! hahahahaaa ~ we shall see... BALEYYG music is a mix of many styles, so hopefully we will have the chance to frighten everyone! have a great show with the wonderful and insidious Jarboe!! she is incredible live...
