Underlapper have been playing together since 2002; their wide-screen musical vision growing in confidence with each passing year. In 2007, Underlapper reached a creative peak with the release of their second full-length album Red Spring. Underlapper’s 2005 debut album, What Came Forth From The Sea fused left-field hip hop with post rock in a way unheard in Australian music up until then. The MCing recalled classics from the Anticon and Mush labels while the instrumentation
pushed the boundaries of genre in an intelligent, surprising and uplifting way.
Their second album, Red Spring reveals an ambitious and eclectic album which sees the band move away from their earlier hip hop influences and focus more on singing and instrumentation.
The album is an exploration into experimental pop, post rock and downbeat electronica and has drawn comparisons to Efterklang, Mum and Hood.
With layers of keys, cinematic effects, electronic flourishes and organic sounds, Underlapper play out via an atmosphere that is part melancholic ‘live’ band and part delicate electronic processing.
Red Spring has received critical acclaim and has seen Underlapper working closely with some of Australia’s emerging underground music scene (ii, Comatone and Alpen).
After playing numerous shows to support Red Spring Underlapper have begun work on their third album, set for release in 2009.

hey guys, heard through mutual friends that you do the occasional remix. My old band, Season, played with you guys years ago at a show the Greenland fellas helped organise and we really dug your music. If you've any potential interest in doing a Black Hundred remix let me know! Love to hear your thoughts on which track etc. Take it easy. James.
hello Underlapper, or "The 'Lapper". You guys were great at your last gig, please play again soon even though you did say next year but it's a long time. Have a good one.
