UNIEN SAVONLINNA

Bio:

UNIEN SAVONLINNA is a DVD coming out in October 2010. It's about the town of Savonlinna and the people behind various experimental accomodation solutions and the bands Paavoharju, Joose Keskitalo and Harmaa Getto. The DVD is produced by Lauri Ainala (Paavoharju, Harmaa Getto and Säästöpojat) and will be co-released by two awesome Finnish labels: Fonal Records and Helmi levyt.

A ray of light pushes through a tiny hole, into the dusty darkness, and paints a faint upside-down picture of the house across the street on the concrete wall.

They collect leftover beers from beach rocks, try to drink themselves drunk, and after failing, wait until the evening, come into bars, covertly drink from people's pints, offer broken cigarettes, and finally return to their moldy fortress for the night. Where the paint peels itself off the walls, where it's dark and cold, where there's no fear of meeting the wrong people when you don't want to. And we, who leave the same bars and restaurants, have no idea where they go. We go and pass out on our own sofas, on each other's sofas and floors. We puke in showers, and hold each other's hair, so that it won't stain the sheets, so that we won't smell bad in the morning... But them who we are not are somewhere else. I am somewhere else. The abandoned house wipes off their smell with its own: they smell like second-hand clothes and moist soil, like they had slept out in the rain the whole night.
