The foundation of Union Pulse is Boston native singer and guitarist James Redding. James began writing his rootsy, organic songs in the 1990s, when groups like Soul Asylum and Counting Crows ruled the airwaves. Taking influence from that era's moody riffs and catchy melodies, Redding's human insight and turn of phrase blend the best elements of alternative, pop, and country with the depth of classic rock, blues, and roots music. Honest songwriting and raw, unstructured guitar work make Union Pulse a timeless brand of American rock and roll.
Since 2002, Union Pulse has been a persistent presence in the independent music industry. Despite frequent lineup changes leaving more than thirty musicians in the dust, and with the help of longtime friends Tad Unold, Chelsea Muench, and Mike "Duffy" Murphy, the band continues to travel coast to coast - and everywhere in between - building a strong relationship with its listeners. Now based out of Milwaukee, Union Pulse has grown from a young indie band into an energetic, charismatic ensemble blurring the lines between folk, grunge, and Americana.
UNION PULSE !@! Glad to see you're still living it .... keep plugging - your music is too fucking awesome to be ignored. With humble admiration and much - much love- Ned
Hey actually we weren't recording up there. That's just our practice space. But we were just trying to lock down the songs that we were going to do for the next recording.
Hope your Turkey Day was filling. I can't eat for like two weeks I feel! -drew
Please listen to WMSE 91.7 FM this Thursday, November 5th at 3pm as we will be playing our solemn hymns live for the despondent masses. This is part of their fall pledge drive, so please try to also lend some financial support to keep them going. If yer out of the area you can listen live online at www.wmse.org.
Also, please come out to The Cactus Club on November 6th at 9pm as we will be playing with The Ragadors and Bailiff. We know there are a lot of other shows going on that night, but if you can, it would be appreciated. Yours in suffering, The Church of Abject Sorrow
