Banda de Speed Thrash Metal, proveniente de Bogotá (Colombia), Conformada en el año 2001 y quienes desde sus inicios andan rotando en la escena del Metal, tanto en la capital, como en otras ciudades Colombianas, demostrando que el grito de guerra, la fuerza y el poderío de su estilo clásico ochentero siguen vivos en estas tierras azotadas por la injusticia social, la invasión y el abuso capitalista; tierra plagada de autoridades corruptas que “sirven y protegen” a una viciada sociedad, tal y como manifiestan sus líricas de alto contenido latinoamericano, social y rockero.
Principalmente influenciados por leyendas del metal como MOTORHEAD, ACCEPT, V8, HERMETICA, ARKÁNGEL y RAZOR (algunas de las favoritas de la banda), URSUS desata una energía en vivo demencial en sus shows, que se ve reflejada en sus asistentes.
Sus fundadores y eternos hermanos MARIO A. CRUZ en el bajo, DIANA CAÑÓN en la batería, EDWARD PITA en las guitarras y CARLOS ARTURO REINA (Ángel de acero) escritor y profesor universitario en las voces quien aportó en gran medida lo que sería la identidad de la banda. En el año 2006 Carlos sale de la banda por motivos laborales y es cuando FELIX ZAMORA se incorpora a URSUS inyectándole fuerza, sangre y poder a las voces. Actualmente y con esta alineación unida por el Metal y la amistad, la banda se dedica a ofrecer presentaciones por el país.
Fue banda invitada a abrir el concierto de los alemanes SODOM en Bogotá en el año 2008 y realizo el lanzamiento de su CD "HIJOS DEL METAL" junto a los legendarios españoles OBUS en Pereira. Adicionalmente han participado en conciertos de obras sociales y diversos festivales junto a bandas como Death Mortor y Drakco (Venezuela), Gore (Peru), Twilight Glimmer, Vaitor (Pereira), Reencarnación, Witchtrap Dirges, Revenge, Runnerhell, (Medellín), Hedor, Verdugo (Ibagué), Destroyer, Sagros (Cali), Chacal (Pamplona), Sobibor, Soulburner, Novilunium, Cobra, Fury of Fire, Legacía, Sursum Corda y muchas más.

URSUS is a Speed Thrash Metal band born in 2.001 in Bogotá, Colombia, South America. It was founded by Mario, Edward, Diana and Carlos Reina, (their original vocalist who left due to professional reasons). In 2.006, Felix took over the vocal works, giving URSUS a more powerful and sicker drive to their front-man performance. Their main music influences include MOTORHEAD, ACCEPT, V8, HERMETICA, ARKÁNGEL, RAZOR among many other personal favorites.
URSUS have been playing and kicking it in the scene for 8 years of constant work and live appearances in tons of ass-kicking shows in Bogotá, their nation’s capital, as well as many other gigs along with bands including: DEATH MORTOR, DRAHCKO (Venezuela), GORE (Peru), TWILIGHT GLIMMER, VAITOR (Pereira), REENCARNACIÓN, WITCHTRAP DIRGES, REVENGE, RUNNERHELL, (Medellin), HEDOR, VERDUGO (Ibaguè), DESTROYER, SAGROS (Cali), CHACAL (Pamplona) SOBIBOR, SOULBURNER, NOVILUNIUM, COBRA, FURY OF FIRE, LEGACÍA, SURSUM CORDA and many other bands from Bogotá city.. In addition to this, URSUS have participated different Metal Festivals with fund-raising aims, which shows that today Metal heads can make music with a social purpose.
Their music represents the battle cry and the power of old-school 80’s metal made in Latin America. Added to this, their fans enjoy and identify with their lyrics, which depict the feelings and other insights metal heads and other people experience in the land of the abused by moral injustice, capitalism invasion, state corruption, police brutality and twisted law enforcement among many other vices of society. In 2008, URSUS experienced two of their biggest achievements in their music career. In September, the band was invited to open for SODOM, the legendary German Thrash Metal band who visited Bogotá, Colombia for a third time. After this, on December 6th, URSUS was invited to Pereira city, to open for OBÙS, the Fathers of Heavy Metal in Spanish language. Both concerts gave URSUS more coverage and national broadcasting, which enabled them to be called in to play in several Colombian cities who want to see their live energy in 2.009, especially the songs included in their new CD: Hijos Del Metal (Sons of Metal).
