Pete’s illustrations for the album artwork show the eponymous character Urusen (an anagram of ‘unsure’) wandering through different scenarios and experiences that reflect the album’s songs. As well as the hardback clothbound illustrated case, the album comes with a CD booklet, and also another illustrated insert, but we’ll leave that as a surprise ;o) Then of course, there’s the music, which we hope you enjoy very much.

'Carefully written and delicately performed - sparse, gentle acoustic pop that uses harmony and melody to evoke lazy summer afternoons.' Acoustic Magazine
'The sunshine-dripping and optimistic melancholy stance of Belle and Sebastian nuzzles and charms on this much welcomed comeback' Loud And Quiet
'Dizzyingly lovely...a perfect listen.' The Beat Surrender
'Strong melodies and beautiful harmonies...Urusen make you want to put off what you had planned for the day, stay home and listen to the disc several more times - it's required listening. Go buy it.' ***** Certified Desert Island Disc - Wildy's World
‘A five-piece doing rather lovely things to folky instruments with excellent melodies and harmonies – that’ll do for me’ Gil Mills, Best of Myspace Issue 34, June 2008 - www.bestofmyspace.co.uk
LIVE REVIEWS:
'Seriously slick... delivering their own brand of acoustic indie-folk-rock in superlative style...a joy to behold; the songs were beautiful, the vocal and cello arrangements quite stunning.’ GoBusker.com - April 08
'Very very clever songwriting…fantastic' BBC Radio London, live studio peformance - Sept 07
'A breathtaking live experience…they have too many potential hits for any particular favourite to be cited. Seeing a band hold an audience like that, in the palm of their hands, you can't half help but think you've been spoilt seeing such a great band so close-up. And to see the band so obviously enjoy themselves is even better.' Plum Music - Oct 07
'Truly enjoyable…this band give you something a
little extra - they had their audience captivated and whooping for more. Definitely a band to look out for in the year to come.' MusFlashTV - Oct 07
A newly finished music video for Nosediving (Animation by Mikeyplease.co.uk
Below is a live video version of the same song, Nosediving, taken from the first gig of our summer tour 2008 at the Cobden Club in London.
Now that we have grown...
Nearly three years in the making, One day in June began in our homemade studio (surely a challenger for World’s Tiniest Most Curious) in Bath, where Ben and Pete grew up. As the album progressed our band has grown and a number of other musicians also squeezed their way (literally!) into the studio to add contributions, for which we are ever beholden, as we are to all those others who have helped us make One day in June :o) We’re now a five-piece band – Peter Beatty and Ben Please on guitars and vocals, Nick Ullmann ..o, Jay Darwish on electric bass and double bass, Kieran Houston on drums, and then sharing duties on piano, charango, percussion, harmonium and any other instruments close to hand.
When we were two...
Ben and Pete produced Urusen's debut album Life Under Seat a few years ago, when Urusen was just the two of them - if you would like to buy a copy please go to our website http://www.urusen.co.uk or you can download it on iTunes
Hey guys, this is Tom the guy who you met at glastonbury festival and i said you were the best band i'd seen all festival. I've added you on my band's myspace and i'm commenting you from it, my band's called the karma police and i play bass. I'e been listening to your stuff and i bought "one day in june" off amazon.co.uk and its brilliant, i can't believe a band like you haven't been discovered and given a big record deal or something. :P
cheers guys - we'll catch you at Tolpuddle too, seeing as we live in Dorset. Make sure you're there for Transglobal Underground - they're one hell of an exciting act!
Hey! Appologies if this is the second comment we've sent you recently...bit of a mix up in the bands communication :)
Anyway.. we've been a little quiet for the last few months but we are very pleased to announce our new EP is finished and up on our myspace! It's called Bright Lights and has four brand spanking new tracks to blow your mind. Please have a listen and tell us what you think and if you love it, buy it! :)
"Exciting, Striding and assured. It has an energy reminiscant of everything that was good about the Klaxons debut album.." - BBC Radio Bristol
