Bio:

Valgrind born from the ashes of the ultra-underground act Necrospell in 1993 as a Death-Black project with both extreme and melodic influences. The first release was "As Darkness Falls" (1995), a demo containing all the influences previously described. During the following years the sound changed into a mix of the best Usa and european Death Metal bands, as mastermind Massimiliano Elia (bass/vocals) imposed himself as main songwriter. The first example of this evolution has been showed with the 1996 Demo, "Through the Mists of Vigrid" which contained a bunch of aggressive and straight in the face songs. The following cd "Humiliator" showed an increasing talent and more structured compositions. But the best was yet to come! 2000 is the releasing year of the cult mcd "Definition of prepotence", which saw the songwriting contribution of the guitar player D.I.M and the killer performance of drummer and long time member Francesco Mileto. "Definition Of Prepotence" contained the most technical and articulated compositions so far . The band's huge live activity (thanks also to the contract with Kick Promotion agency) permitted to spread their music around. They share the stage with bands like Raw Power, Undertakers and Ciaff among the others.Unfortunately, both guitar players D.I.M and Danilo diPalma left the band soon after and the line-up had to be renewed again. Pascal tuscano joined Valgrind after a short period and Massimiliano started to work on the new compositions with new motivations. The purpouse was to create something more powerful and memorable, adding an dark epic touch to the Valgrind sound. The result is the masterpiece "Not Of This World" (2002), which contained band's classics "Unresurrected Be Liar" and "Dark Dynast" with the stunning performance of all the bands member and the powerful voice of Massimiliano at the helm. The band's ambitiond were growing and after some months of meditation, Massimiliano and Francesco decided to relocate in Bologna and put a new line-up together. After some unsuccessful guitarists auditions Massimiliano decided to switch from bass to lead guitar, while bass duties were taken by Andrea Orgiana, who was previously contacted for the guitarist 's role. The bands rehearsed hard for months but a second guitar was needed. Massimiliano and Francesco contacted Hateful mainman Daniele Lupidi and after a couple of hard rehearsal week the line-up was complete again!!! Many new killer tunes were now ready to be played live and recorded for a long-awaited full-lenght album. Unfortunately, the excitement didn't last. Just before the band's anticipated return on stage, frictions between Francesco and Massimiliano caused Valgrind split and premature end. All the band members returned to their personal projects. In 2007 Daniele asked Massimiliano if a reunion would have been possible. He was very surprised to hear Massimiliano was thrilled by the idea and the two started to organize the return!!! Valgrind are now completing the line-up to record the long-awaited album. True Death metal Freaks are warned!
