ENJOY!
2003 was the year of liberation and celebration for British Music. The path previously cleared by The Strokes, Libertines etc had now found a newer, grittier post punk sound to excite the streets.
Two minute punk songs were now leaping out of D.I.Y bedroom studios. Vatican DC called theirs " Pink Hotel".
After few spot radio plays on Zane Lowe’s show and encouraging noises from the N.M.E, Daniel and Irish Steve decided the bedroom needed to take the shape of a band.
Next stop Chris Gentry, forcibly pulled from Britpop retirement back to where he belonged on lead guitar. The chain reaction had begun. Chris snaffled Tal Amiran for drum duties who in turn conjured the mysterious Luca Spoto...........holding a bass guitar.
A few low-key gigs followed until a hungry Eddy-temple Morris picked up on the band. Gasping a sigh of relief now the" future of rock'n'roll was in safe hands" Eddy raised the alarm.
As the sirens wailed across North London, Liam Howlett woke up in a cold sweat, realized he needed a support band that could start a few fires of their own. Suddenly Vatican DC found itself at Brixton Academy.
First E.P "We Carnival" was released in 2005 and the band went on the road
supporting the likes of Bloc Party, The Rakes and Eighties MatchBox B-Line Disaster. Further singles "Wow" and "Side to Side" followed, both finding themselves named single of the week on XFM.
With great supporters on radio (Zane Lowe, Lauren Laverne, Claire Sturgess) the time was right to deliver an album.
Self styled lothario and musical genius Eliot James (bloc party, sunshine underground, fields) took on the mantle of band producer, holding
the band hostage at EastCote studios for six weeks. The result was
"Make It Ride" due for release 14th May 2007. So there you go, time for you to Make That Ride to a Vatican DC gig near you soon.
