Bio
As-Salaamu Alaikum! WELCOME! The "Verbal" is lyrical and the "Seed" is life, so now we have "lyrical life". VERBAL SEED! This Crew consist of three blood brothers (same mother & father). Focus, Oneself Salaam and Tree. Born and raised in the city of Waco, Texas with two members residing in Dallas, TX. Raised on 60's and 70's soul music, Verbal Seed managed to find hip-hop in the early 80's. While listening to some of the illest mc's growing up( for example: Rakim, KRS-One, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, N.W.A, Gangstarr, Pete Rock & CL, Geto Boyz, UGK, Big Mike, Melle Mel, Cold Crush, D.O.C., Ice Cube, Native Tongues, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, OutKast, Goodie M.O.B., Organized Noize, Roots, Common, Pharoah Monch (Organize Konfusion), Reflection Eternal, Slum Village, Rass Kass, D.I.T.C., Biggie, Tupac, Nas and Jay-Z) Verbal Seed formed their own image through this music. The oldest sibling Focus was more of an influence to his younger brothers Oneself Salaam and Tree. Focus' first group "Vision In Perspective" was a local hit but not much of a buzz outside their community. A split caused by creative differences, Focus looked to his brother Oneself to start the duo "Verbal Seed" in 1993. During this time Oneself invested in music equipment and crafted his sound on the EMU SP1200. In 1997, through producing and going to school for music , Oneself met other MCs and musicians Butta Finga, Mony Mone, Symbolyc Elements (Myth and S1 from Strange Fruit Project). Focus, Oneself and these artist formed the super group "Third Eye Militia". In 1999 the group's debut album "Buried Alive" sold a large amount of copies in an area where hip-hop is irrelevant in the Master P. era. With the group's success, members decided to work on individual projects. In 2001 Verbal Seed started working on their debut album "Something from Nothin". The Album was successful in the Central Texas area and establised Verbal Seed as a force to be reckoned with. With the success of "Something From Nothing" they decided to add their younger brother Tree to the group. Fast forward to 2006, "Verbal Seed" is done with their sophmore album "Afronauts" (which dropped in Japan on Nov. 16, 2005 on Handcuts/Universal) and was leased in the U.S. early 2006 on Black Son Records. The album features Strange Fruit Project, Illmind, Bavu Blakes, K-Otix, Kay and D-Rose(of Foundation), Chip Fu, Deloach, Dow Jones, Apoc Beatz, and Thesis. This album has received 4 Questos (aka fros) from okayplayer.com's review section. Available now at cdbaby.com/verbalseed. GET YOUR COPY NOW!! LOOK OUT FOR THE AEONZ CREW ALBUM COMING SOON!!! AN UPLIFTING AND INSPIRATIONAL READ ABOUT REALITIES
IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY
KATRINA
THEY TOOK SO MUCH FROM US
WHEN THE TIME CAME
WHEN THE HURRICANE CAME
IT WASHED AWAY THE SINS
IT WASHED AWAY THE PAIN
THERE WAS NO HOPE
NO SALVATION
NO WAY OUT
THEY TRAPPED US IN THE CITY AND
WOULDN'T LET US OUT
TO SEE MY PEOPLE FLOATING AWAY
THEY WERE WASHED AWAY
SO MANY ARE LOST STILL
TO THIS DAY
IT COULD TAKE A LIFETIME
BUT IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME
ONLY HOPING THIS TRAGEDY WAS NOT IN VAIN
RELIEF CAME TOO LATE
AFTER THE HURRICANE
AFTER THE PAIN
AFTER THE STARVING
AFTER THE RAIN
AFTER THE DEVASTATION
AFTER THE BLAME
I LOST LOVED ONES
YOU LOST LOVED ONES
OUR LOVED ONES LOST LOVED ONES
ALL THE FEMA AND RED CROSS
CAN'T BRING THEM BACK
BRING MY PEOPLE BACK
BRING THEIR LIVES BACK
THEIR PLAN WAS TO TEAR DOWN THE PROJECTS
AND DO AWAY WITH THE BLACKS
THEIR PLAN WAS TO SEND US AWAY
SO WE WOULD NEVER COME BACK
WE WERE LOST
MISPLACED
OUR PAST ERASED
OUR MEMORIES ERASED
OUR HOPES AND DREAMS WERE WASHED AWAY
IN STREAMS OF BLOOD INFESTED
DISEASE INFESTED WATER
BUT WE REFUSE TO GO QUIETLY INTO THE WIND
OR LOST WITHIN THE RIVER
WE RAISED OUR VOICES
SCREAMS OF HELP US
RUNG ACROSS THE NATION
INDENTED IN HISTORY
WE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN
THEY WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN
IT TOOK THE NATIONS EYES WATCHING
TO SAVE US
AND THROUGH ALL THE FRUSTRATION
WE NEVER GAVE UP
WE STAYED STRONG
WE GOT BY
WE SURVIVED
BUT TO THIS DAY A PIECE OF ME DIES INSIDE
FOR THOSE WHO DIED
AND THOSE WHO SHED EVERLASTING TEARS
FOR YEARS OF UNEQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
AND SOCIAL INJUSTICE
THERE WAS NO JUSTICE
YOU CAN NOT JUSTIFY
THE PRESIDENT
